Topic: RE: Revision Surgery

I have talked to Dr.Weiss about the ROSE procedure and though he is a huge advocate of it. I haven't found much info on it myself and certainly no long term data.  If anyone knows someone who has had this procedure I would love to know how they did.
You are correct Holly in that insurance does not cover the procedure and any type of surgery is expensive.. Dr. Sonnanstine and I have discussed his opinion of the procedure and he stated how expensive it is..and he has seen no proof it works.  His feeling is patients would be much better served by placing the band around the connection between the pouch and the roux limb.
I have always advocated for Dr. Sonnanstine and have been close friends since he first opened practice.  I know him well enough I can say this with conviction. He will not put his patients through any type of procedure until he is completely convinced it's safe, effective and has long term success. ..
Dr. Sonnanstine also performs revision surgeries...
hope this helps.

I know that Dr. Geller seems to do a lot of revision of bariatric surgeries. Call him. I know he has banded a bypass many times. I don't think he does ROSE procedure and I don't think Dr. Sonnanstein does either. The only ones that I read are Dr. Denk/Oldham in Lexington. I heard it is very expensive, about $15,000 and not covered by insurance and the longest available data is pretty poor, even at 12 months out.

I'm with panhead on this one.

It did get better for me . It took me about a month and a half to finally feel some comfort. We did have major surgry on our insides. I have not had any problems with being able to not drink anything.

Hope you feel better soon.

Keep us updated !

Hugs
