I look forward to turkey as much as dessert...hmm.
I do make a cranberry relish, not sauce and it is sweet and tart at the same time. I use splenda insted of sugar and that works like a champ.

 Becky,

May your memories especially at this time of year bring you comfort and may the new year bring ways to celebrate his life and become closer as a family.

Woo Wee Leanne, This year you'll be able to fit in your stocking!  I can't think of a more fitting present.

This will be a new year to remember.

Topic: RE: Dr Shina? (anyone see him)
Dr. Shina is my surgeon that performed my RNY in Oct 06 and also took my gall bladder out in Aug 07.  I really, really appeciate his expertise and he is such a wonderful surgeon and listener!  I had heard all kinds of bad things about him before I went to see him back in 2004 and had almost decided that I would have Dr. Geller do a lapband on me (then my insurance disapproved the surgery at the last moment).  But two years later when I went back and had decided on the Gastric Bypass I went to Dr. Shina and I was pleasantly surprised!   He has never yelled at me for gaining a few pounds back and is very interested in all of our wellbeing.  He is always very patient and listens to whatever I have to say and always wants me to remember the basics for after the surgery.  He is very encouraging and I would never go to anyone else.  I definitely think that you would like him as your advisor and surgeon.

Congratulations!  And just in time for Christmas.  I arrived in Onederland 2 1/1 weeks ago and can hardly believe it.  Just when I was beginning to wonder if I would ever make it, it happened (now down to 298.2) I'll be looking for you in the days ahead!  :)

I <3 Dr. Shina...
I 100% agree with everyone else's opinion of his straight forward manor, but it keeps me on track! He tells it like it is! And he is a wonderful surgeon! I can see where people would see him as an in and out person, but I don't think that is true. With him, I don't think he understands beating around the bush, so, if you have questions, comments or concerns he expects you to say them... he isn't a hand holder or someone that is going to lead you along, but he always takes the time to thoroughly answer questions and explain things when I ask.

I think he is a wonderful weight loss doctor, but I think it really depends on what you are looking for in a surgeon... if you are looking for someone to push you then he would be great... but if you want a sympathetic ear or soft spoken coaxing... he is definitely not for you!

Topic: RE: Ft Knox area?
Hi ShanZro!  I have worked at Fort Knox for 30 years and had gastric bypass three years ago by Dr. Shina.  I have gone many times to the Bariatric Support group that is held at the Norton Suburban Hospital monthly.   I would love to meet with you just to talk and get myself back on track.  I have gained about 20 lbs of my 100 lbs lost back and am frantic!!!
