Personally,I like both.The only thing I dont think sees his unless theres a problem. Dr. Geller on the other hand does see his patients.He's the only surgeoun in his office.My friend sees him thats how I know.The only thing I dont like w/Dr.geller is I wish he would go to support groups like Dr. Oldam does. I always wonderif he wil ever get the surgery himself,right now he says hes not ready. Hope that helps.

 Dr. Weiss did my surgery, lapband that is, I think he is an excellent sugergon, I think Oldham is too, just never had him for surgery.  When my port had to be replaced Dr. Weiss was very rude to me in the pre-op area.  I left the practice for two reasons, one was how rude he was prior to my port replacement and the other is, you never saw a doctor after your surgery, just the PA and ARNPs.  Dr. Weiss is back at Georgetown since Dr. Tom left and moved to Ohio this week, I plan to go to Ohio to see Dr. Tom, but I know that is not possible for most and wouldn't have been possible for me earlier, but now it is.  I don't know if Dr. Geller does his own follow ups or not but I think it helps to see the doctor after your surgery, or it has helped me, since I had my RNY with Dr. Tom in January of this year.  

I probably could look over the rudeness, now, I couldn't when it first happened, but I prefer to see a doctor rather than a PA or ARNP and would consider going back to Weiss if he followed his patients, but I want a doctor to folllow me.

I was just so tired yesterday when that food and bed took priority. Worked on lowering my carbs and did better.  Calories and protein went up a little.  Still exercising daily and taking my vitamins.  Did not drink decaffinated coffee yesterday but I will not slip up with the caffine continually.  Should not have snacked on popcorn and peanuts either.

I don't know about Humana insurance but will try to find out.  I know someone that has Humana and Dr Geller did her band, I will ask.  My band was done by Dr Oldham. 
Back in 07 there were quite a few bandsters that went to meetings at Norton Suburban and seemed satisfied, with doc.  I only mention them because a few were self pay.  They may have chosen that Hospital and group of doctors due to cost factor.  Maybe someone will check in and give you a heads up.  Wishing you the best.

Topic: Norton Vs Baptist East
I am looking for advice and opinions for having LapBand surgery and aftercare with Norton Healthcare Bariatric and Weight Management Program with Dr.Geller or with Bluegrass Bariatric Surgical Associates at Baptist East with Dr Weiss/Oldham.  I am just not sure which one to choose for this long term decision, so any insight would be appreciated.  Keep in mind I am looking for long term advice, not just which one was the best surgeon.  Thanks in advance!

Topic: Patient out of pocket costs with Humanam POS
I have Humana POS and I am almost done with the 6 month Dr. supervised visits.  Humana will only pay $5000 towards cost after approval.  I was wondering if anyone had a the same policy and how much the negotiated rates ended up being for Lap Band.  I am looking to have the surgery at Norton Suburban with Dr Geller or Baptist East with Dr Weiss/Oldham.  I am trying to get an idea of how much money I will need to come up with to pay the bills.  Thanks in advance!

Topic: Thurs. - 9/15/11 - Accountability
Better today?  Just a little.  Increased my protein but did not get my carbs under 100, where they should be.  Still the calorie count is where it should be right now.  Today is one month since my unfill.  I am surviving.  I am working to control my eating and doing better than expected.  How will you do if you lose your tool?  Hopefully you never have to answer that question.  But if you do, work hard not to undo all the hard work.  Keeping focused really helps.  I have learned so many things that may have contributed to my problems.  Unlike some, the doctor and the staff in meetings prior to my weight loss surgery advised me of the possibility of it not working for me and many of the consequences.  I accepted and prayed that it would work for me.  With only one setback, gotta say my prayers are being answered.

No, lack of weight loss has not killed me yet. Still following most of the rules. I say most because eating too many favorite snacks. Not eating as smart as I need. Exercising daily and I have increased the time and quality of exercises. For that I'm proud of myself. One more month then test and see how my band and esophagus look.
