Hi and welcome!  I live close to Middletown myself -- we're practically neighbors!  There is a support group meeting at Norton Suburban Hospital once a month.  I believe it's the 4th Thursday at 6:00 p.m.  You are welcome to come!  There aren't any support groups any closer to us that I'm aware of.  I know that there's one downtown, but that's even farther away.  To get to Norton Suburban is pretty easy from Middletown.

Amanda, Don't give up, I know how you feel!  I had my RnY almost 2 years ago.  I wanted the DS but could not get insurance approval so I settled for the RnY.  Well I lost 53 pounds the first 4 months but then my grandson died and I had a major addiction transfer problem and started drinking.  So now a year and a half later I've not only stopped losing weight, I've gained back 25 pounds!!!

I've been contemplating getting a DS re-do but now I don't even have any health insurance... :O(  My husband and I just moved from So. Calif to Louisville and when we did, we lost our insurance.  Unfortunatally my husband hasn't been able to find a job yet.

Please keep us informed and I'm going to check out the DS boards too!  :O)

Hello everyone!

I'm new to Kentucky, specifically, Louisville.  I'm one year and ten months out from my RnY and have had some major set backs since about 5 months after surgery so, not only have I not lost any more than 53 pounds, I've actually gained back 25 of those pounds!!!

I'm interested in joining a support group.  I think that might help me get back on track.  I'm going to be doing a liver cleans to try and fix any damage that I've caused over the past year and a half and after that I want to try that 5-day pouch test diet.  Has anyone here had any success with that?

If there are any support groups in Louisville (more specifically the Middletown area...since I've only been here two weeks and have no idea how to get around yet...lol) please let me know.  :O)

Thanks, and I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Hi.. I haven't been on OH in a while.   Sounds like you are going thru lots of changes.  Good Luck with your new job and home.   I know you travel a bunch.  I am sure you will feel better when you are settled in your new home.

I just wanted to say Hello to everyone too.  I am at a very good point, but I can see some bad habits slipping back into the daily routine since I can eat more now.  Protein fills me up quickly, but I crave carbs so much.  I have had to break a couple of junk food compulsions.  It is something that I never thought I would have to do.  My best thing is working out.  I have always loved it and it continues to be the bright spot in the maintenance struggle.  I really think I should lose a few more pounds, but I haven't had the motivation to do so yet.

Hope everyone is doing well!

I see that there aren't very many recent posts on our KY board, so I thought I'd just start a new thread where everyone can check in.

I reached my personal goal weight a couple of weeks ago.  I am happy about that, but sure could use a tummy tuck!  I feel really good physically, but still can't eat most meat.  I have come to terms with that and get my protein from other sources.

I have a lot of things going on in my personal life.  I started a new job in August and am ending a 20-year marriage.  I'm in the process of buying a house and am looking forward to moving as soon as I can get in it.  Right now I'm still living with my soon to be ex-husband and that is awkward.  Our divorce should be final before Christmas.

Hope that all of you are well!

Dr. Geller,

I have had my band for 16 months, received it in Florida, I have not had an adjustment since last October 12, due to losing my insurance. I am now living in TN, and need an adjustment BAD!!!

Can you help?  I am in Westmoreland and I think it is about 150 miles for me to come to Louisville.
Have had lapband for 3 years, ready for it to be gone... Just like my ex husband and I did, we are getting a divorce.

Be careful.  I know someone who did this and because they lost weight during that period they were turned down!!!
