Hi Jacqueline,

Absolutely, let's be a support to each other to lose what we have gained.

I just got back for the OH conference here in Cincy and what I took most from it is how important support is.  Doesn't matter how far out you are or what type of surgery you've had....we're all in this together.  And it's not even that it was a huge topic of discussion....but it was just a feeling I got from being with everyone.  I was inspired and awed by so many people.  Many who are maintaining after many years out and many who, like us, are struggling...and even those who have recently had surgery or are waiting for surgery.  It was one big weekend long support group meeting.

The best way to find out about this would be to call your county's Cabinet for Health and Famiy Services.  They can tell you what you would qualify for.  I do know that you have to spend so much out of pocket on medical bills prior to them being able to help.  Give them a call it can't hurt.

Topic: medicaid spend-down
hi all!! I am having the sleeve done @ Hazard ARH in Feb 2011. I have Humana insurace which will cover all except 4500.00. Someone came into where I work yesterday and told me that I qualify for a Medicaid spend-down card and that it will cover it. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks and God Bless!!

Chris,  I understand where you are coming from.   I have gained close to 20 lbs in the last 2 months.  I am off track and know it but have to get back on and quick.  Tonight is the first day of me starting back on track.  No cookies, no junk, nothing bu****er tonight.  Tomorrow will be a whole new day and I have to make this band work for me.  I had to have a partial unfill and have now had about half the fluid that was romoved added back.  I am rarely hungry but I eat to have something to do.  I honestly believe that is the reason.

So join me and lets do this together.

Just my 2 cents....

As far as seeing the surgeon years out....why not?   My mother had open heart surgery 4 years ago.  She still sees a cardiologist yearly and has regular tests to ensure that the surgery remains successful and to stay on track as far as taking meds and keeping her weight in check.  And she will see a cardiologist yearly for the rest of her life.

So it's not THAT far fetched to keep up with the surgeon that performed bariatric surgery.  Weight is a lifelong battle and who better to keep tabs on how things are going than someone that specializes in bariatrics?

You're right....people SHOULD be able to come here to ask questions and get answers.  And honestly, I have seen that happen quite often.  But in all reality, if you aren't getting what you want from this board.....why do you keep coming back?  I've seen you post mostly negative things....I could post chase but I honestly don't remember you asking a question about your personal situation.  It's always regarding Dr. Sonnanstine and his level of care.   So if you aren't getting what you want from this board but you are from others then I have to ask.....why not just stick to the boards that you like rather than trying to get this board to conform to what you want it to be?

kylovebug,  I just now saw this message.  If medicare covers the sleeve in 2011 I will have Dr. Sonnanstine do it.  He and I have already discussed it.  Are you still going to have surgery and you still leaning toward the sleeve?
