The beauty of a woman is not seen through what she wears. It is seen through how she carries herself and the way she doesn’t allow herself to settle. Don’t ever let anyone take for granted the beauty that is within you. Stand firm and know that you’re a wonderful person. Always remember your value and respect yourself. I’m so blessed to have you in my life.  Sometimes we all need to be reminded how special we really are!

Good morning!

I haven't posted here in ages either.  As you mentioned....life just seems to get more and more busy so some things tend to fall by the wayside.

Glad to hear you're enjoying your job!   And I'm sure....enjoying those grandbabies as well.

Old....well.....I'm turning the big 4-0 in a few months...so I'm definitely feeling old right now!
I have 4 cousins that are also turning 40 this year along with my sister-in-law so we've planned many celebrations.  Or distractions, as I've been calling them...

I've been beating myself up a lot lately over gaining weight over the past 1 1/2 years.   Obviously we all want to reach and stay at goal weight forever but for me....I've definitely realized that it's something that I'll forever struggle with.  There is no slacking off and starting back on the elusive Monday that never comes.  So, I'm working on it.  I know it won't/can't be as fast as when I first had surgery but I just have to keep at it.  As long as I'm trying, I haven't failed.   Though there are days I could try a little harder. :)

I had to laugh at a friend on Facebook that asked if she thought about exercise really hard, could she count it?   Oh how I wish!   I've gotten quite adept at ignoring the many, many exercise videos I've bought over the past few years.  I think I almost convinced myself that dusting them and moving them around on the shelf is just as effective as actually popping one into the DVD and following along.  According to the scale.....that does not work!

My boyfriend lost 40lbs this year by eating high protein/low carb.  I've been doing a lot of eye rolling these past couple of months because he's still losing easily and not trying.  So the phone call on weigh-in day when he says  "Hey...lost another pound but I ate like a pig all week" is not my favorite!  But what I really noticed that I never really thought about before (and we've been together for 3 yrs) is that he doesn't snack.  At all.  If he's hungry and it isn't meal time....he'll have just enough to satisfy him so that he can make it to the next meal.  Like a handful of almonds.   Going to a movie doesn't automatically mean having popcorn.  Going to the Red's game doesn't mean eating his weight in soft pretzels, cracker jacks and ice cream.   I began to question if he had some type of mental disability....then I realized he just doesn't have a food addiction.  Jerk.

Okay....so now that I've written a book of ramblings.....who is going to the OH conference this weekend??  I'll be there with a friend and hope to make more friends.  This is the first one I've been to and I'm really looking forward to all the classes, people.....and free stuff!

Sorry I am just now making my way over to the KY board to see this.  Dr. Sonnanstine gives his patients as much time as they need.  I have never been rushed and I like to talk, too and never been rushed there.  Who ever said he did not give them much time must not have opened their mouth.  He talks to you about everything and as Brenda says he covers it all with you, if you need it.

I am so glad that Brenda is here cheering people on and talking to folks that want to see Dr. Sonnanstine.  I know she was a big influence on me going to see him and I will never forget her for helping me make my decision.

I am again, like Brenda, I knew from the first time I saw him, which was in June of last year that he was hiring another doctor and that he would  be there in August of this year.  Everything worked just like I was told it would.

Hi- Thanks for responding to my post.....Dr. Sonnanstine is definitely busy, but never too busy for his patients.  My husband is his band patient, he has no problems at all spending time with him or getting in to see him.  The new addition to his practice was set from the start.  It just took awhile to find the person Dr. Sonnanstine is comfortable with and trust.  Dr.Rasmussen just finished his fellowship,  this is also very important to Dr. S and Georgetown.  That means he spent an extra year studying
nothing but bariatrics.  A very good thing.
The reason Dr. Sonnanstine see's his patients continually is for several reasons.  First he wants to make sure they are following healthy lifestyles, if a patients is having any problems at all with Vitamins deficiencies etc.  he wants to be the first to catch it.  If that person is having issues with the surgery itself, he wants to be the one to treat it...Since the above rarely happens to those that are compliant.it boils down to one thing.  He LOVES watching his patients change, grow, get st rong emotionally and physically.  He likes to see the changes as they lose weight..and to be honest he loves the hugs he gets from his patients.  He's a very good surgeon, but don't forget he's also a doctor..so it was his promise and commitment to his patients to stay with them throughout their process.  He's a surgeon, doctor, counselor, nutritionist...friend and motivator. Can't get better than that!
Dr. Rassmussen will have his own patients,  as the practice is growing quickly.  I am sure his patients will love him as much..I hear he's a good surgeon and nice guy.
