My doctor is from Ohio but now lives and works in Georgetown, KY.  I don't know how far that would be but his name is Tom Sonnanstine and he is wonderful.

Topic: Clothing Exchange at Ohio OH Event???
Hello Friends,

We have had several requests for a clothing exchange in Cincinnati during the event.  In order to do this, I would have to give up a breakout room and use that for an exchange room.  Before I do this, would you post and let me see a show of hands so I can see if this is something you really want?  It would mean having three less speakers; we would still have 4 on main stage and 8 in breakouts.  Let me hear you! We want you to have the best experience ever!

Sincerely,
Kim

Topic: RE: Support group in Madisonville area?
Hey Guys/sorry Ladies,
The lady you talked about from Dawson Springs isn't doing groups anymore. There was some fallout from the folks trying to start their business with the group being their first clients. This also happend in Princeton and Eddyville! Without stirring the pot anymore that's why I only made it to one meeting. Now with that out of the way... I had my surgery at Gateway in 2008, we have a support group that meets on the last Monday of every month. We would be glad to have you. I know this would probably be too far from madisonville but it's not that far from Hoptown. I know I haven't posted in quite awhile but life has been a blast!!!!!! Surgery was in Oct. 2008 and I feel wonderful. These meetings help us stay motivated you need them trust me!!!! By the way I'm down 216lbs and maintaining. If you need anymore info. just call the bariatric nurse at Gateway her name is Heather Watson she's a good nurse and will give you all the information you need. Her # is9315021465
                                                                        Good luck, Don

Hi Cynthia,
I hear what you are saying about needing a support group close to you.  I am from Hopkinsville, had my surgery in Louisville May 09.....  I am down over 200 lbs and am starting to worry.  For me to go to the support group at Nortons is 3 hours one way.   I know that there was a group that met at the hospital here but I am told that they are no longer here.  Am still looking into if they have just moved from the hospital ( the lady was from Clarksville) or if they are still meeting.  If I hear something I will let you know though.  Good luck.

I'm in Owensboro, and there's not a band doctor here that I know of.  I got to Louisville, but there is some in Evansville.  My dr. in Louisville said the ones in Evansville are good (he graduated with one of them).  I just can't go there because I am a state employee and have state insurance and was afraid they wouldn't pay if I went out of state (even though it's closer!).  Good luck!

Topic: RE: Surgery was postponed until Friday! sigh
Thanks everyone for your comments. I am at home and doin quite well (in my opinion). As for the other patient someone asked about, I have no idea how that went. I know there were a few other patients that had surgery the same day as me and we were all 3 in BCU at the hospital. So I am assuming things went fine with their surgeries. Dr. Tom was great! I have the upmost confidence in him!

I know for a fact Dr. Sonnanstine has not lost a patient this past few weeks or months.. ..
Dr. Sonnanstine works with high risk patients and often times they need extra attention and care.  I for one am glad he chooses to help those in need and does not turn them away because of high risk..Diabetes, very high BMI and other co-morbids can cause a great deal of problems for high risk patients ...BUT..these patients can be operated on with success- they just need that extra attention and care he so graciously gives,  all of his patients are educated and well informed of their risk before surgery.. he has contact with them before surgery, the day of surgery and follows them closely after.
I was a very high risk patient....I am proud to say I was affiliated and trained by him, he certainly is "anal" about detail and care of his patients....the reason he insist on direct contact with patients..from beginning to end....that's an awesome surgeon!!
