YES THEY DO.......you HAVE TO GET A COMMUNITY CARE REFFERAL FROM YOUR PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR. THE DOCTOR WHO DOES THE SURGERY(DR.STEEB) IS O MEDICAL LEAVE RIGHT NOW, BUT HE WILL RETURN IN MARCH. YOU CAN CALL THIS NUMBER TO TRY AND GET AN APPOINTMENT 504.412.1366.
YOU WILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH A 9 WEEK NUTRITION CLASS AND A PHYSIOLOGICAL EVALUATION. IF I WERE YOU I WOULD CALL ON MONDAY, AT LEAST TO SEE WHEN YOU CAN GET AN APPOINTMENT WHEN HE RETURNS.

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this site so please bare with me. I am from New Orleans and wish to have weight lose surgery. I suffer from diabetes type 2 and hypertension. I also have back pain, torn knee ligaments, and a heel spur from being this heavy. I have tried every diet under the sun. Problem is I am on Medicaid. Do they really pay for this and if so, which doctor accepts it here?

Yea Angel I agree it was good to meet you, I dont really have many people around so its nice to meet people who are supportive and understand. And I think that both of ya'll will be early march i think everything will be fine just make sure everything is done and nothing is standing in the way. I hope dr steeb is ok. Anyways TTYL

I HOPE THAT HE THE LORD WILL HEAL HIM TOO. I FIGURED THAT YOU ALL HAD GOTTEN THE SAME LETTER. ANGEL, I THINK THAT WE WILL GET RESCHEDULED FIRST BECAUSE WE WERE ALREADY SCHEDULED. HOPEFULLY WE WILL ALL HAVE IT AROUND THE SAME TIME.
DEVIN CALLED ME BACK ON YESTERDAY AND ASSURED ME THAT THE ONES THAT WERE ALREADY SCHEDULED WILL BE ON THE LIST FIRST SO, I DON'T KNOW. I KNOW THAT WE WILL ALL HAVE THIS SURGERY WHEN HE RETURNS. THE LORD HAS BROUGHT US TO FAR TO JUST LEAVE US.
WHILE I AM WAITING I HAVE BEEN ON THAT LIQUID DIET AND I HOPE TO STAY ON A WEEK THEN OFF A WEEK FOR AS LONG AS I CAN.

Well, hello everyone! Hoping that everyone had a great holiday and is enjoying the start of a New Year. Sorry I havent been on alot lately, just so much going on! Wednesday I finished my last nutrition class (i lost a total of 10.7 pounds), and I also recieved a very nice letter in the mail from Dr. Steeb apologizing for having to cancel on me. I hope and pray that whatever illness he has that God will heal him. He also stated that in 6 to 8 weeks when he returns that I would be one of the first to have my procedure done.

I RECIEVED A LETTER FROM DR. STEEB TODAY STATING THAT HE IS ILL AND HAS TO HAVE TREATMENT FOR IT AND THAT HE WILL BE OUT AT LEAST SIX WEEKS, POSSIBLY 8 WEEKS. HE APOLOGIZED AND SAID THAT WHEN HE RETURNS THAT I WILL BE THE FIRST PERSON SCHEDULED TO HAVE SURGERY.
THE LETTER MADE ME FEEL SO MUCH BETTER. I WILL BE PRAYING THAT EVERYTHING GOES WELL FOR HIM. SO I AM SURE THAT YOU ALL HAVE OR WILL RECEIVE A LETTER FROM HIM AS WELL.. TAKE CARE AND I AM PRAYING FOR US ALL.

OMG, how devastating to lose your father like that!
I lost my mom 5 years ago to cancer, and its never easy to lose a parent, weather through an illness, or unexpected! :-(
Honestly one of the reasons I am having surgery is because of my mom. She was over weight her whole life, and that's all I've ever known... Is to be over weight, and un healthy!!!
I made a promise to my mom that I would become healthy, and lose this weight (It has been proven that the type of cancer she had is mostly found in obese people, well 88% to be exact.)

As I have always been told, what doesn't kill you will make you stronger, and still no sure I believe that, but everything does happen for a reason!!!
