HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST TODAY??
Tabitha,
I'm right there with ya! I had surgery on May 3rd and big mouth me told a lot of people where I work. There are a lot of them that have known me and my constant struggle and I didn't see any harm in telling them. But, when I see them from time to time, they always ask.
And the worst part was I mostly "spun my wheels" all summer. But, now....I'm seeing the scale moving again!
I have just gotten where I think the people that know I had surgery are just asking to show interest. And also as a way to make conversation. I don't get offended anymore. They all knew what a big deal this was for me and I think it's their way of showing that they are remembering me.
Take heart. Pretty soon, they'll be saying..."WOW! You look great! How much HAVE you LOST???"

Hi All!
I had my surgery a year ago Saturday and to this day people ask me how much I lost.. The fact that I'm on a serious plateau doesn't help any. I told everyone that would listen I had this surgery and now I regret it big time. I have lost weight but not even close to the amount I wish i had lost.

TABLITHA,
PLESASE GIRLFRIEND, HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST SENCE YOU STARATED WHICH WAS JUST A FEW WEEKS AGO IF IT IS 15 LBS THAT IS WONDERFUL YOU HAVE TO GET USED TO DIFFERENT STAGE OF THIS PROGRAM. I had my band on FRIDAY of last week and doing very well i live alone so no one is watching me jump on the scale day and night.so far I have been really lucky I have lost 19 lbs. but i think that is to fast for me to lose and still be feeling good. I feel like a charter out of a STEVEN KING MOVIE THE SKINNY BUT I SURE HOPE NOT LOL.
next time someone ask you tell them that your scale broke and you will let them know later. It is that, those people think that our weight will fall right off and we will be skinny the next day or two . Y ou will be fine .
lets keep in touch your a week ahead of me' so we can compare our steps.
GOD BLESS YOU AND HE WILL HELP YOU KEEP YOUR A CHIN UP AND MOLD YOU INTO THE BEAUTIFUL WOMEN THAT YOU ARE.
GLORIA (CALLING ALL Angels)
I do know what you mean... I've only told a few people about my surgery but they do ask me each week and I know they are only trying to be supportive but I do feel as though I am under a microscope sometimes. But you know, my husband doesn't ask... he waits for me to tell him... maybe I'll ask other people to just wait for me to tell them too. By the way, it is just my opinion but I would really encourage you NOT to weigh yourself everyday. Sometimes I think weekly is too frequently. There are a lot of people on this board who advocate only at your doctor's office at check ups. I know that is hard when you want to see the scale move, but I think daily is too frequent. Too many hopes raised each day and too little room the scale could conceivabely move in that time.
Good luck,
Elizabeth
I just want to thank everyone who has posted today to be honest I have been so bummed that the scale has not moved in the last few days that I just want to scream and cry when someone asks me well what did you lose today! I got up this morning with that old demon of ok I will just not eat another thing until this scale moves (old habits die hard) got a hold of me. So as of now 4:00pm I have not eaten a thing since last night. I know these habits are bad for me and will only cause me to stray from my plan but it is so hard some days. Talking to all of you who are right there with me and understands really helps I feel calmer now and I will go home and eat what I should eat for a normal meal and it will come off I know it will I just have to keep it up.
Ok, first off, let me just say as a kind reminder if no one else has mentioned it, your first 6 weeks is strictly for healing, any weight loss is a bonus. How much you lose in the beginning isn't any kind of indicator about how well you're going to lose later on. Your weight loss will kick into gear once you've reached a good restriction level. Do not let other people's questions about your weight loss dictate how you feel about yourself. You are right on track right now.
Just a little information on me, I was banded in February, after losing 20lbs in the 4 weeks prior to surgery. I lost 8lbs at my 1st week check up, and another 8lbs in the 5 weeks after for a total of 16lbs lost at my 6 week check up and 1st fill. Nine months later I've lost 93lbs since surgery and 113lbs since January. Stop obsessing about your scale, kick it out, don't let it run your life.
Secondly, you must eat regular meals, including breakfast to get your metabolism going. By not eating, your metabolism slows down and so does your weight loss. Not too mention, eating later in the day, you'll be really hungry and end up scarfing down your meal, and very likely to cause yourself to pb because of eating too fast, or eating too big a piece. Believe me, I know, it's happened to me, a lesson well learned.
Now, step away from the scale, and concentrate on becoming a good bandster. I know for me, in the early stages, I took to reading lots of food porn. You can't imagine the number of recipes I cut out, or books I bought. I would spend my time drooling over the pictures, waiting until the time I could try the recipes when I could eat. You know what? I can eat just about anything I want now, just in moderation. I know it's hard to be patient, but your new bandster lifestyle will come with time.
Good luck,
Mercy

I just had to let you know this I did not read your post until I came into work today "to bad for me" be just as you said I was feeling better after reading everyones post so I went home and ate dinner but I was so hungry that I guess I did eat to fast or to big of bites or maybe just to much but I had my first PB
it was AWEFULL I felt so sick I never want to do that again ever!!! I did not think it was going to come back up and it HURTS
wow no better way to learn than the hard way!
Well I guess I have learned to treat my band with a little more respect.
what a great post this is for me!! I have told everyone that i have had this surgery and now that i am 10 days out, and with the first checkup under my belt yesterday, I am going to tell everyone that I have lost one pound! - even though I have lost 13,, so that the next time someone asks me -- how much have u lost i can say 2 pounds now!! and so on and so on,, that way,, I will always be 'loosing' to satisfy the 'askers' and they will be happy for me and we can celebrate each and every time someone asks me ! yeah! thanks for the post.... I will use this information for good * insert evil grin here*
