Anyone know of a good substitute for ginger ale? I'm feeling queasy this am for some reason and usually a ginger ale settles my stomach. Unfortunately we aren't supposed to have carbonated beverages. Or does anyone think that sipping on a little wouldn't be to risky? Thanks!

Substitutes that work for me: mint tea, peppermint tea and real ginger. I've sucked on ginger root and made a tea by boiling cut pieces of real ginger root. After the ginger has steeped into the water, sweeten with your choice of sweetener or drink it unsweetened. Oh, yeah, recently at a sushi restaurant, I got the same effect from some pickled ginger. Last time I tried ginger ale, I puked it right up along with the rest of my stomach's contents. Take care, Frances

Good suggestions from Frances. You can buy ginger tea bags at health food stores.

When l was a kid my mother would always bring the ginger ale to a boil and let it cool a bit and then would give it me... always did the trick.. l know it doen'st sound good but it works.. also you could stir the crap out of it to remove the carbonation, there is also a ginger herbal tea out there that will work to ,,,

Peppermint tea gives me the best relief but ginger tea is good too.

Honestly, I'd just get some diet ginger ale and let it go a little flat before drinking it. I don't drink soda as a rule, but I've had it a few times since banding (mostly when I was sick) and it didn't cause a problem. I let it get a little flat and pour it over ice. It works for me. -Elizabeth 242/183/140

Poor some diet gingerale into a glass and microwave it for 30 sec (more or less) and then stir - that will get most of the carbonation out. The teas are a great idea too. Kim
