Liquid diet fears!!!!!!!

Hi everyone, I will be starting a partical liquid diet on March 15th. I have a few shakes to try that the dietian gave me, but I would love to know what ones you find taste the best. According to my doctor, I need to have 3 shakes a day plus a light dinner (lean meat and veggies) the shakes should have between 100-150 calories and at leat 10g of protein. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am not looking forward to it. I am very concerned that I will be constantly hungry. It also dawned on me today that once I start the liquids that will be it for anything but liquids for a month!!! Can I really do this?????

Norma: Shakes and such are VERY subjective. You'll people who adore one brand and an equal number who detest that one. It's really trial and error based on your own preferences. I CAN tell you that MY favorite ready-to-drink brand is Atkins (I think the one I've been getting most recently is low-carb) in two chocolate versions. The shake MIX I prefer is by Aria, also in chocolate, but I can only find the vanilla flavor locally now. Bette

Norma. I think the key is to stay positive. I start my liquids tomorrow morning and I am trying to keep myself about the whole thing. I'm looking at it one day at a time instead of as a span of 4 weeks. My doctor allows sf jello and ice pops. That will help with the sweet cravings. Good luck! You can do it. zippi

My favorite shake is Alpine Chocolate and I get it at bariatriceating.com. It has chocolate chips in it. I make it with skim milk, add a tsp of peanut butter and place it in the blender with ice cubes. I still drink one for breakfast b/c I am always on the run and drink it in my car on the way to work. I am 5 mos out too. It really fills me too and holds me over for about 4 hours.

I also like the Atkins shakes. If you buy premade jus****ch out for the sugar content go for the lowest you can find, but I am sure you know that! You can also make your own and the lemonade protein mix from GNC is really good too. It's a scary thing to think about only "eating" liquids for that long but trust me the week after you won't want anything else and after that if you can just convince yourself that it's helping your loss than it'll be ok. Yes that pureed chilli was the best thing I had ever tasted at the point but take it from someone who made it!...the liquids are worth it in the long run. Good luck~ Kristin
