Lap Band on 09/30/05 with

Hello, I was just thinking to myself and there are sooooo many bandsters on this board right now probably cannot attempt to eat chicken or any meat for that matter...LOL...trust me I have had every fill level there is...too loose, just right and too tight.... When I post about my sweet spot, I DO NOT WANT TO LEAD ANY NEW BANDSTERS ON to thinking that sweet spot equals two teaspoons of soup and boom you are full....NO that is too tight .....So if you are seeking restriction like this I want to far warn you it will not happen without pain, heartburn/daily PBing aka vomiting and possible setting yourself up to get your band completely emptied or worse removed..... Here are clear signals of your lap band too tight, whether you want to hear it or not...here goes... 1 If you are at Walmart looking for a Magic bullet to pureed your food...and you are over 6 monthS to a year out from surgery...your band is too tight... 2. You wake up in the middle of the night choking on your own spit...your band is too tight 3. You can barely swallow your spit....your band is dangerously too tight...LOL.. 4. You regurgitate and wake up with vomit in your mouth...yes this happens...your band is too tight 5. You wake up with hot poop (bile in your mouth) ..you are dangerously too tight 6. You no longer sleep with your husband at night and and the recliner is your new best friend, coz you no longer can sleep flat without regurgitation and fear of aspiration in your lungs.... 7. If you start to live like a vampire since you cannot eat anything solid until after sunset or before 6 pm...LOL...your band is too tight 8. Hey it's Thanksgiving...you should enjoy right? your family is serving a typical bandsters meal...lean turkey, green veggie...string beans and sweet potatoe...this is what a typical bandster meal should be....but guess what ? You cannot eat this...your band is too tight 9. Your husband no longer wants to kiss you anymore fearing you may PB in his mouth...yuck...your band is too tight 10. You post a rant message on the board, because you have not lost any weight and you do not understand why... since all you have been eating is soup and pureed food...your band is too tight 11. You can no longer eat while sitting down, you have to walk around to get tiny partical of food to go down....your band is too tight 12. Your list of foods you no longer can eat  or tolerate ...with them coming right back up is a mile long....your band is too tight But if you can eat about 2 oz of solid protein and a couple bites of veggies per meal...with no heartburn/Ping and get full really quick and brag about all the weight you have lost....NOW THIS IS YOUR SWEET SPOT BANDSTERS... Although this post sounds very humorous...I am dead serious on the symptoms of a too tight band... Now enjoy the rest of your day!!!! NaNa

It is humerous, but still good info :) Whenever I burp, my husband turns to me and says, "was that productive?" (I've never PBed, thankfully). My fill si good, though I can eat 3-3.5 oz meat + veggies, it's still better than no restriction at all!! Michelle

You're such a sweetie!! Yes, it's me, from Dr. Chebli.. okay, I didn't mean for that to rhyme, really!!  I worked on my profile today and added pictures since the new hair do looks so different! I love it though! My husband saw it and said, "you look so weird!" HA! Because I looked like a different person. I told him to pretend he had a mistress!

Thanks Naomi, I don't have to worry about the hubby part. (only wish I did) I can eat anything but mashed potatoes....sleep lying down...don't have reflux, but I think I'm a little tight....you know you can just tell.  I belong somewhere inbetween 2.0 and 2.5 cc for sure.  I'm very comfortable though and can drink and eat solids (providing I eat and chew very well).  Yeh, sometimes it lands in my chest and works it's way down slowly, but I'm good to go till I see the dr. again.  I just want to be a little more comforable following bandster rules.  I have none of the above symptoms....hmmm bougjht my Magic Bullet pre-op and packed it away for my trip homThan Thanks for the good advice. God Bless, Dee v

Hello, Sometimes inbetween won't hurt *IF* you are able to lose some weight with that tight fill, but be careful not to fall into soft food syndrome of having to rely on all liquids and soft foods, since this can sometimes back fire with no weight loss.... Good Luck! N.

Hey Naomi, Its so funny that you posted this today because I was just telling MonaS yesterday that I didnt care how tight my next fill was, I'm not going in for even a slight unfill.  This is due to my frustration of not losing any weight since my second fill.  I can STILL eat anything I want and almost the same amounts as in my preband days.  There's only a slight difference.  I've done so horribly lately that I deserved to be punished!!  Tighten me up!!  I'll just have to slurp on protein drinks until I get this weight off!! Your advice was great though.

Hello Solo, I can understand the plite of newbies...LOL..I have been there myself, I wanted to *SEE* for myself how a very tight fill felt....AND BOY was it a rude awakening...hehehe... I will tell you my weight loss had slowed down around July...I had lost about 90 pounds at that time, I had never been very tight, but tight enough to eat small meals and still lose weight...so I went for my 5th fill....and I will honestly tell you it did not kick in until 3 whole weeks later and when it did ....I thought I was going to die...I thought my band had slipped...I had pain in my throat, my chest, heartburn/reflux, I was so weak because I could not get much liquids in....solids was out of the question...the thought of anything thicker than soup was not doable....My fill kicked in on me on a Friday night when my docs office was closed...I called him that night and he asked me why I did not call him earlier...I told him it did not kick in until late Friday night..so I had to spend the entire weekend slowing sipping on soup and hot tea and room temperature water...I could swallow my spit...I was not that tight..but I will tell you being too tight is nothing to play with ....Monday morning could not have come soon enough for my doc to give me a slight unfill...I learned my lesson the hard way...which most bandster have to do...hehehe.... Take Care and good luck! N.

I don't ever want to experience a really tight fill, not even for the sake of losing moe weight.  I need a little bit out and I think I'll find my "sweet spot".  I'm good on getting my protein and eating well...just have to stay away from starch...bread...potatoes, which is really no big deal.

I'd have to agree with you 100%. I tried to go on with a tight fill because I didn't want any taken out and risk being too loose. But all of a sudden, I had all the things you listed happen to me and I couldn't get to the Dr.'s office fast enough. Once you wake up choking on hot poop. Its time to let the saline go. I am tight right now but I don't have the reflux, I just have to chew my food well and drink an hour later. NO EXCEPTIONS!
