Fat Discrimination

In Chile, where my family is from, weight descrimination is BIG.  They honestly do not sell above a size 10 in shops.  You are lucky to get a size 12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Fat people are seen as social outcasts and the amount of time that women spend at the gym and on their appearence is expectacular!!! I was reading through the wanted ads one day and they would read something like this` "wanted, bilingual secretary for international corporation.  Must be fluent in French and English and have a good precense (that mean she cant be fat)."  I nearly died when I saw it!!!! How dare they!!!!!!!!!!!! Needless to say the BAND is super popular in Chile so when I told my family I was having it done they didn't bat an eyelid.  It was all "oh, so and so had it done and he/she looks great!" "go for it", super suportive because everyone who's got 20 lbs to loose in Chile is getting banded!!!! So if we think we have it bad here..... Loli

MY journey has been very similar to Bridgets. I've never been discriminated against in jobs because I have always gotten any job I interviewed for. My family tells me it's because of my personality and warmth, I'm a very friendly outgoing person. I, however, had a lot of trouble getting dates before I was married. I think it was part weight related, but mainly because I grew up in the small Louisiana town, was highly religious and kind of sheltered. I never had any chance to MEET Mr Right..... or even a ton of Mr Wrongs! Guess it was a good thing that Mr Right ended up being my best friend from childhood!
