OT: Lunchtime baby bird update (with pictures!)
Yeah, I had this idea that I would clean the nest out each evening, but I'm starting to think I'll have to do it twice a day. I guess that's what babies do; eat and poop.

Now these are the type of posts I love to respond to, it's such a pleasure hearing about your little guy. He's quite the cutie!!! Even with no feathers, he's still a sweet baby to look at. I am so glad that Momma is still taking care of him, often the smell of humans will make them reject the baby, but so glad she's letting you help. Momma bird must know you've been sent from God to help her baby live...I have tears in my eyes, this is just a sweet blessing you have shared with us. Thanks for updating, and please keep posting...I came home from the gym and searched for the update...glad I found it!

Thanks :)
I'll try to post an update 1-2 times a day. So far things still look good this evening!

The wildlife rescue folks said that the whole scent thing is basically an old wives tale - birds have almost no sense of smell. When they reject them it can be because it is one of the bird types that just does that (like doves and pigeons - they apparently don't like to take one back once it falls out) or because they may have even been the one to pu**** out of the nest so that they can get the # of young down to a smaller, easier to support #.
