Has anybody noticed a change in their cycle since being banded?

I have made an appointment with the GYN already.  It seems like every 2 weeks my cycle starts.  I thought I was being dramatic and just thingking that it came every 2 weeks.  Not the case, this month it came on 07/30/2008 and has now started again on the 10th.  It was the same last month.  First I thought my body was just adjusting to surgery but we are going into the 3rd month of this happening.  I am usually very regular on the 1st or 2nd I start not anymore.

I really hope my hormones are just crazy due to losing weight.

Yes, your hormones are just crazy due to losing weight. Mine has been all messed up since surgery. Also due to the fact that i had an IUD placed in Jan. So i too have a period about every 2 wks that seems to last about 2 wks. It sucks. The OB says it will get better, just be patient. Good luck.

HI,

Yes, mine did that too but it was before I was banded.  I noticed that it started happening after I had lost about 35 or 40 lbs then it continued up until I lost 75lbs.  I am watching it to see how long it will take before my friend comes back again now that I am banded.  I thought I was the only one but I had not started to get worried yet because I just figured that it was from losing all that weight so fast.

Yeah, mine changed for the better.  I've had to be on the pill since I was about 14 since I had such bad periods, but now I'm off the pills and I get a very small period which lasts 3 days...with NO PMS>>>>>>I can handle that.

Fat cells have a lot of estrogen in them, this could be a factor.

I was diagnosed two months ago,  two days prior to banding, with simple hyperplasia (?). In layman's terms I have a build up of estrogen. Whereas my doctor did not mention being overweight...my internet research revealed it as a cause.  So, has anyone had this diagnosis and overcome hyperplasia afer weight loss????  Would really love to know this....may ease my mind.

Weight loss can mess with your hormones, which can mess with your menstrual cycle, but it's probably a good idea to see your GYN just in case.  Let us know how it goes.

Hmmmm.... I am now on day 11 of a cycle that came 14 days after my last one!  I have been blaming it on the upcoming 50th, but who knows now?  Maybe that 40 lb mark is the kicker to falling into this particular branch of Hades.

I have been having problems too.  I made an appt. with my gyno, too, because I have been concerned about my cycle problems.  I spot for anywhere from 2-7 days prior to my period and then I have my period for 3-5 days and then I sometimes spot afterwards.  I feel like I should just wear a diaper.  LOL!  I had to reschedule my tests that my gyno scheduled because of my spotting.  It is crazy.  I hope everything goes well with your appt.
