I have a desk job as well and my surgeon said 4 weeks. I am thinking at 2-3 weeks I might ask for a release to go back though. We will see. I am a week out and there is no way I could do my job right now. I can't drive, I can't even sleep in my bed, there is no way I am going back to work.

I had my surgery on a Friday and was back at work on Wednesday - desk job.  (I also spent Tuesday shopping since I had the day off)  I never had gas, pain or anything.  Just some soreness getting up and down out of a chair.  Within one week I felt totally back to normal.  Soreness was gone, etc.  I made a concious effort to walk and move every hour after surgery to help speed recovery.  I would have been stir crazy if I stayed home any longer!!!

Everyone is different.  So better to be safer and take more time than you think you will need.  Good luck on your surgery.  You must be excited!!!!!!

My Surgeon recommended two weeks minimum for a desk job.  Mainly because you don't want to take a chance of hurting the stitches that is holding the band in place.  So i am taking the two weeks and more if I have too. I have an understanding work:) Which I am so blessed with.

Surgery was on Wednesday, returned to work the next Monday. I was not weak, fatigued, nor did I have a huge amount of pain. I actually only took my pain meds the first 3 days post-op, and that was only twice a day instead of every 4 hours as prescribed. I have a "desk job" as an insurance agent, so going back to work was a huge relief and got me out of the house.

I had my surgery on Tuesday Nov 11th. Still kinda sore, easily fatigued, need a nap everyday. Also, liquids in = liquids out for me, big time. Plus, the burping is quite loud, could be a problem in a small office. Everyday I wake up and feel different, some good some not so good. If you've got the time, take it and recover slowly. Good luck.

REALIZE Band on 05/27/08 with
My doctor released me after 2 weeks with some small restrictions.  When I submitted the paperwork to HR the Director called me and said unfortunately they couldn't let me return until I had NO restrictions.  Therefore, I was off for 5 weeks.

I have a desk job (attendance clerk) for an elementary school, but because of their insurance requirements, I was unable to return earlier.

It was nice having the time off, but not so good on the financial front.

Congratulations on your decision to have the band and remember to listen to your body and let that deterime (along with your doctor) how you should proceed.
