Got my surgery date and....
I keep feeling like I had better get my last meal in before I have surgery! I know it sounds silly but I keep thinking about all the yummy things I won't be able to eat afterward that I love to eat now. And gee, imagine this! Its what got me to this point in the first place!!! Has anyone else had this dilemna? My date is Feb 17 and I know I will be on a liquid diet for 5 days prior to that so I feel like I "need" to get in my General Tso's Chicken and the delish BLT sub from the pizzeria up the road before all this happens. I only have 8 days of real food left before I start the liquids and even tho I am supposed to be still losing so its easier for me after the surgery, I am still just thinking about all that I want to taste before I go!! I just feel like I dont have my head on straight at the moment. Any thoughts from you seasoned veterans would be very welcome!
I have been lurking around on here for quite some time and am finally going to join you all on the losers bench very shortly! Move on over cuz as soon as I get all my last meals out of the way, I am gonna park my rear right along with all of you guys!!
Thanks for listening and any help you can send my way.

Your lucky, because my BMI is more than 40, I have to be on the liquide diet for 2 weeks.
I too had those feelings. But, every since before Christmas I have been doing atkins to get ready for surgrey. I drove by one of my favorites today and my DH helped me be strong and drive on by.
Keep strong, I KNOW how hard it is. My surgry has alredy been moved up on me.

Congrats on getting your surgery date! I'm waiting for the insurance gods to grant me approval! If they approve, they pay 60%.... anyway... I won't get into it all...hahaha I have been working on this process since June 08.
Did you ever see the movie, "The Bucket Cup"? well I have made a Food bucket cup list..... I know it's stupid but I'm also in the last supper mode, but it has been going on for weeks. I'm trying not to gain, but I'm eating stuff I know I won't eat once I get banded. Or I shold say IF I get banded.
When I get approved by insurance, I will follow what my surgeon tells me to do, I have been reading this board a lot and learning a lot. In the past I have lost 120 pounds on WW, so I know I when I set my mind to it, I will do it. But this waiting to find out is awful for me.
Keep us updated on how it goes for you! I'm happy for you.

I totally ate everything before. Ate at my fave restaurant, had a steak,(a fellow WLS person suggested this one, she said I may never eat one again!) Made homemade fudge. So far I've had no ill effects from it. I have not cheated, much, a couple of cookies at Christmas. Oh, and a coke, I love Coke. I had to make sure I was willing to never have one again, before I made the decision to have WLS.LOL I also, had no pre-op diet, so I ate right up to the day before. So I think you are totally normal. We will be waiting to move over and have you sit beside us on the bench. Good luck!

My lapband surgery is set for 2/17/09, as well. I have been looking for people that are having surgery in February. Maybe, you and I can compare notes during this process. I am on a two week protein diet. The first two days were terrible but today was better. My addiction is chocolate so I gave it up as a New's Year resolution. Instead of thinking about the food you have to give up, think about how good you are going to look.
My surgery date is February 13th, and I'm doing the same thing. My doctor said to start pre-op diet one week before, he said try two weeks, but one week should be good enough.
So guess what I'm doing?
Thinking of all of my favorites and going for it!
I even made sure to stop at the In-N-Out Burger when I went to Arizona; it was really on my list of things to do.
Good luck with your surgery.

Congrats Tammie! As for your last meal, maybe taste some have a little but not way over just because there is no time like the present to start preparing. Now, I am not a seasoned veteran, I am nearing the end of 5 WEEKS of liquids, 3 weeks pre & 2 wks post ... It is very hard to stay focused but the more you prepare yourself the better. If you start tapering down it may be easier to adjust, that is what I did and it helped me a lot. I never realized how much food mattered to me until the liquid diet. If you ever want to PM someone for encouragement, support, accountability ... feel free. You can do this and you will succeed, one day at a time, following your surgeons rules is the best.

I to am having surgery this month, Feb. 25th and I have lots of lunch and dinner plans of restaurants that I love and my friends love . My surgeon isn't putting me on a a pre-op diet but he made it clear that if I gain weight he will cancel the surgery and they will be weighing me that morning. I'm still watching every other meal and being careful when I do go out plus I do exercise alot and the scale is still going down slowly 1/4 lb.here and there but thats ok.

Yup...add me to the list too! I have suddenly found myself living alone, so I dont have to buy 'family' foods. Im just shopping for me now. So...whats easy...frozen pizza, hot dogs, cereal, chips or going out. I just have my appetite back, so now Im hungry.
I wasnt put on a diet before surgery either, but Im trying to get myself motivated to at least do low carb for a week at least before.
Good luck to us all!
