Family BMI (just for fun)

So like I told everyone, I got my Wii Fit on Sunday.  I did my body test and my BMI was 43 (pre-band ).  Over the week, everyone in my family has gotten into the act.

My husband did his and is using the Wii Fit everyday .  His BMI is 28.

My daughter has a funky lap top that over heats every hour and she is getting up and using the Wii Fit for 10 minutes every time she needs her computer to cool down.  Her BMI is 24, on the high side of normal BUT this is up from (and I just calculated this) 16.9 a year ago.  She had to start taking a medication with weight gain as a side effect in the summer and has gain about 30 lbs but she is so much healthier than she was at 108!

Then my 27 y.o. son got into the act.  He likes the balance games with the marble.  His BMI is 19.  I was glad to see this because at 6'5" and 160lbs, I was worried he was too skinny but 19 is normal, barely.

There are no skinny minnys in my household. :(
In fact, my son in law is loaning me the wii because he is too heavy to use it and I'm guessing that my daughter is too.

I tried it for the first time a couple of days ago and was irritated to see that the birthdate choices only go back as far as 1970.  What?!  Am I that old?  I thought they advertise it "for all ages".  Also, it doesn't weigh accurately when it's on carpeting.  It weighed me about 6 lbs too light and then after a couple of activities, when I stepped back on it said my weight had changed significantly.  So I'm not thrilled with it's tracking abilities, but the activities are fun.  We laughed our heads off when I was trying to hit soccer balls.  I actually tried to duck to miss the flying cleats! LOL.

I was born in 1961 and was able to put in my birthdate.  Maybe you need to check again.  Also, if you use your balance board on carpet, you have to use the 4 little feet extenders that came with it.  Maybe your son in law forgot to include those.  I work in a doctor's office and my Wii Fit is only about 1/2 pound off of our professional scales.  Good luck!!!

Hmm.  Weird.  There were no numbers past 1970.  I'll look again.  He didn't tell me there were little feet for it.  I'll ask him to dig them out.

That Wii Fit is pretty cool. My DH had the same problem, he was just a little over and it wouldnt let him play.

I was a little embarassed by it...That lovely WHA...WHA...WHA when it made my little mii all FAT! LOL wow!

Sheryl, do you maybe not have your board on a flat surface? Yours sounds a little finicky! DH was borin in 1969, granted I wasnt there watching him, but I dont remember him mentioning he couldnt get his birthday in.
