Absolutely - if you are having severe pain always get it checked out ASAP.  I would call your surgeon immediately.

Good Afternoon Dr. Curry,
I have not had my surgery yet, hopefully soon i already have acis reflux and problems with digestion my food. It feels like my food do not digest it just sit there. Will that affect me with the band. Also my surgical DR. Rantis (The Kane Group) stated at the seminar that by our counseltation they would have checked with our insurance to see if they would approve to pay or I would have to pay $300 so when I went for my counseltation on March 31, 2009 I asked when I went would this would be covered they told me they contacted my isurance BC/BS
i had my counseltation Dr. rantis stated i would be a good candidate for the surgery. Now i have all these other Dr. Appts. scheduled and i hear then they have to send a letter or something back to BC/BS to get an approval once all this is done. So can i safely say  after my Dr's appts. i will be waiting on a 2nd approval for the actual surgery itself?

Acid reflux almost always goes away after band surgery, I know mine did. As for your surgeon's process, I can't really comment.  Usually there is only one approval needed from insurance.

Dr. Curry,

I read on here about 12 pages back that gastric banding will soon be obsolete as they are gonna stop making the bands?  I found this hard to believe, but the poster was so insistent that she had all these facts and figures it made me wonder if there was anything to it.

Are you aware of any of this?

Thanks,

JJ

Dr.Curry,I just asked you a question a few days ago about the erision in my band,Thank you for you quick responce, but I also have another question for you before the upper scope test I had, I Did do a upper GI as well, when we did the upper GI,a nurse came in and said Dr. Rantis wanted my fills out,OK Well I have not had any fills for past 9 months, I was at 5cc fill, higest fill ever was 5.5 in a 10 cc band, well the nurse pulled out 7.5cc of fluid how is this possibale,Dr.Rantis says not a concern the amount, but to me it is,I know my fill should left me at 5cc,where in the world did 2.5 cc extra come from? The upper GI came out fine, never had a problem with vomiting at all.So then he ordered the upper Scope to be done, at that time in which he tells me my band is to tight, and has some erision. He took a biospsy, and flew out of my sight,I am still waiting for results of said biopsy, but DR Rantis had not told to make a appt to see him or nothing,I am sitting here not knowing,or have any idea where he is going with all this?Im going crazy not knowing if I will lose my band or what ?

But back to the big Question, how do you get pulled out 2.5 more cc then you have fill ? I was never that tight ,I ate my food just fine, and no vomiting,as I have said, how in the world do I end up with 2.5 extra ccs in my band? and now I may lose my band because its to tight ???

Thank You For U DR. Curry

Dr Curry,
How dose a nurse take out 7.5 cc saline when your fill has been 5cc for the past 8 months.I am out now 16 months down 85 lbs,my highest fill has been 5.5 I have kept very good track of my fills.had them take out the .5 cc leaving me at 5cc in a 10 cc band,I had to have a upper Gi done so they took all my saline out, then a upper scope, was this nessary to unfill me for these tests, and how did I have 2.5 cc extra taken out.
I just cant get over this and my DR HAS NOT EVEN CALLED ME WITH RESULTS OF BIOPSY,TAKEN WHEN THE UPPER SCOPE WAS DONE LAST MONDAY,AND DID NOT EVEN HAVE ME SCHULD A APPT TO SEE HIM ALSO HOW LONG DO I WAIT TO HEAR FROM HIM ??

I really don't know...the only way to get an answer is to talk to your surgeon.
