Why is the band rejecting food?

Thanks everyone.

Fluids are fine.. but I didn't drink as much water as I should over the weekend ... I did have coffee this morning... I usually have one cup every morning..

I don't drink with meals... and I wait my 30 min before and after...

Its so odd that all of sudden I'm tight.. eating over the weekend was difficult small bites chew chew chew... because I couldn't eat much food and TOM was here.. I did eat chocolate on two occasions.. and I hate eating those food triggers and I know why I did and I knew while I was doing it...

I normally do take a water pill but I have been trying to cut back .. start with 1/2 pill then now.. none.. my feet are a little swollen so I may have to get back to taking that pill..

Thanks for the advise.. I do have an appt with the doc this month... if I don't do better in the next day i will try to see him sooner...

I'm very often like that during my TOM.  If you can, supplement with protein shakes and see if being off your period helps you loosen up.  Can you drink hot tea before you try to eat anything?

good luck!

I swear this band is just such a mystery sometimes.  I have a history of PB's and lots of vomiting (like you said, usually somewhat voluntary just to make the suffering stop).  Now that I have great restriction finally, I have SO much less stuck episodes, sliming and PB's/vomiting.  Explain THAT?!  I can't gulp fluids, I have to sip sip sip, so it's hard to get all my fluids in, but I'm thinking that I'm so aware of my restriction now that I am really cautious of tiny bites, eating slowly maybe, I don't know.... maybe before because I was getting so hungry I was eating faster or less carefully than I thought I was, I just don't know.  It is still a mystery to me.  And my band is tighter one day than it is the next, it is SO strange.  So I would say try not to eat stuff like chicken and tuna is ALWAYS tough for me, which I don't understand but it is.. I would try stuff like ground turkey or beef maybe with some sauce?  I had no trouble with shrimp a couple of nights ago dipped in margarine.  Who knows, just try to take it easy for a while and see if you loosen back up a bit.  It's just so odd, isn't it!  Keep us posted if you figure out the mystery!

sometimes it's frustrating... LOL
some people mention eating bread and I have to admit I'm JEALOUS.. I can't eat bread... it will not go down...

My tuna was good too... Im going try to eat the rest of it later today before heading to the gym for zumba...

Thanks for the advise.

Well for what it's worth, the only bread I have eaten since surgery is a toasted english muffin, the high fiber 100 calorie one, I make a sandwich of turkey bacon, laughing cow cheese and egg beaters and I can only eat half and I am SUPER careful... But it goes down ok! Otherwise I am terrified of bread!

Wow, I'm the same way about emotions.  If I get upset or emotional or stressed before meals or during, I know the food's coming back up.  Even if I get upset after, sometimes it comes back up.

I worry too at times about the number of times this happens, I'm concerned about it but luckily I've only had a few times where it came up so hard that I actually broke blood vessels around my eyes.

I don't know if anyone else has this happen, but if something feels stuck, my mouth salivates like crazy.  If I'm at home and there's no one to gross out, I spit out the extra fluid, it's actually prevented me from vomiting.  Also, at times where it hurts...it seems like all I have to do is bend over the toilet, and I'm like Pavlov's dog, I almost right away just start to vomit.

Oh, I forgot to add...when I'm having one of those days, I automatically go to soups and soft foods.  I don't even try and fight it by eating solids until I know I'm feeling better.

One thing that has really helped, as well as helped with the pain, is popsicles!  When I have those days I can't eat and I vomit, I'll eat a popsicle, it seems to help with the pain and I'm sure with the irritation I've caused around my band.

OK< I'm kinda new...what's PB?

and yes, I love that term "sliming" that's what happens!

The band can be so fickle, it can make you crazy.  Other posters have mentioned some of the reasons for variable restriction, but I want to mention that it's a good idea to stick with liquids for at least 24 hours after a stuck episode or PB, to give your esophagus a chance to rest.  After 3 episodes in 3 days, everything in there is probably inflamed and irritated.

Same thing happens to me when I eat food. I have 7 cc's in 10 band. It really bothers me, Dr. said I'm probablly close to restriction. I hope restriction is not like this. I don't know what to eat. I'm hungry for real food but it gets stuck so I eat sliders.
