NSV: On the fence and lost..
I know for a fact that my butt is going to go before anything else does...When I was down to 130# 5 years ago, I had to buy those panties with the padded butt....my bra size will shrink as well...why can't we pick and choose where the weight comes off of ?? The butt thing would not be an issue except that I live in Atlanta and people here are obsessed with big butts, and they consider it a very desirable thing (don't ask me why, when I was growing up in NY a big butt was not what anyone wanted to have!!)
Oh well....if you don't have it...buy it!!
My style when I lost weight was younger and cuter for sure. I am looking forward to fashion in my future..
Have fun on all your future shopping sprees!

Hi Lisa!
I'm kind of in the same boat! I started out at a 24/26 and they were usually big in the legs/butt area because I had to find something that would fit over my tummy. Now, strangely enough, I can wear a 14 to fit my butt and legs... but it's too big in the waist!! When the heck did this switcharoo happen? LOL!!!!
I am very stuck wondering what type of style I want. Before, my style consisted of unflattering pants/jeans, t-shirts and big hooded sweatshirts. I guess I looked like your average I'm-in-college-so-I'm-allowed-to-look-unkempt person. But now I've been out of school 2 years and I have a professional career... I guess I need to act the part!
I have always wanted to wear the styles that J.Crew and Banana Republic carry. I also have always wanted to shop in the regular women's sections of Nordstrom and Saks! I think that's where I'm going to start moving myself towards. Nice fitted shirts, sweaters, slacks- a bit more dressy, I suppose. I currently wear between a 12 and a 14, so I guess I totally could go right now... but I'm hesitating a bit because I'm not a consistant size from month to month, and it would be stupid at this point to drop $50-100 on a single pair of jeans. In the meantime, I've been buying very simple pieces (that I can accessorize and make it look as if I'm not wearing the same things from week to week!) from Target and Old Navy, which are suiting me well for the time being.
Only problem is that now everything fits, so I really have to decide if it's worth buying! Before I had to go with whatever, even if it was an ugly color or print, but that's not the case anymore. I too find it a bit overwhelming!!!

I've written about this before too.
I'm surprised at how frustrating it is to shop! Before, I just wanted something to fit & look 1/2 way decent. Now, it's hard to find something that fits right & I like!
So, this is what was suggested to me so I'll pass it on to you:
Go into the fitting room with as many items as you can...
Take stuff that you say, that might fit but I'm not sure if I'll like it, cuz you might surprise yourself.
If you don't find anything, that's okay too.
You'll find your style, just keep shopping! :)

Wow do I know where you are. Although I don't think of it as redefining since I don't think I ever had a style. It was just what fit, I bought. I am begining to develop a style or at least play wiht one. Yesterday I jokingly said "how about this" to a redish - orange blouse and both my siblings said we thought it would look nice on you. I ended up buying it ( an xl none the less)
Even my dad, who has never talked to me about clothes or color in 39 years decided the other day "you need more color in your wardrobe" and picked 3 tops I "needed to try on" it was kind of funny and I did end up buying them
Go for it with the style, try someting new!!!! It can be fun but be carefule because it can be expensive too!

Lisa,
That's awesome. Congrats on the new size. I'm right there with you though about the style and choices. I usually get so frustrated I leave the store. What I have been doing i****ting yard sales and buying things I think will fit or will eventually fit. I bought a pair of CATO capris last Saturday for a dollar and they fit me like they were taylor made for ME....When I tried them on - I was like - OHHH ok....they are a size 16. I haven't tried 14's yet....I just don't want to be disappointed.
You are awesome!!!
Hope you have a great day
