Can't use "smaller portions" card at buffet !?!

How is it rude to charge her like they charge everyone else?  I'm not understanding that.  You do realize when people try to do this and are successful, the cost is passed along to the other patrons, right?

I haven't used the cards and won't...I think using it brings more attention and I'd be more embarrassed to try...besides, most places won't accept them.  Just the same as some restaurants won't let you order off the kid's menu.

I just order what I want, eat what I can and take the rest home. Or I order an appetizer only.  99% of restaurants serve way more than what a normal portion is anyway.  I've even gone out and ordered an appetizer and shared it with a friend and the friend gave me a portion or their meal.  My Mom's great with this, we have a lot of fun and get to try different things.

As far as buffets, it is a waste and they mostly creep me out anyway.  There is a buffet near where I work and sometimes I go with co-workers.  You can also order off the menu.  That's what I do.  I sometimes get weird looks, but I eat what I can and take the rest home.

 We used to go to an all you can eat sushi place, but the same thing happened.  They said I could come in but had to sit at a different table!!!!!!!  LOL  Well we used to order at $400/ mo at this place and they lost all of our biz!  I made sure to tell the owner as we left that we would not be coming back again!

I think it is terrible that people in here can't keep their nasty opinions to themselves.  They should be ashamed.  I laughed at the kitty joke and totally got the picture in my mind of the lady at the counter being rude and insensitive to you.  Just because her english isn't good, doesn't mean she is stupid.. she knew what she was doing.  I say you were right to leave.  

Maybe restaurants don't have to give a discount, but they should.  Oh poor chinese buffett, give me a break. They would have made plenty of money off your family even if they gave you a few bucks off.  I think the best thing you could have done is leave.  AND tell your friends and family not to eat there.  

I don't have a card, no one gave me one.  I haven't tried to get less or cheaper, I just try to stay away from those traps.  I go where I can order A La Carte and leave it at that.  Sometimes I just say I can't eat very much or I had stomach surgery.  Most people who have worked in any restaurant for any amount of time at all have come across this and they get it.  It has come a long way in the last several years.  I used to go out with my mom, she had to explain to most wait staff what it was and why, or else they thought something was wrong with the food.  Now people get it.  

Restaurants are hard, but it will get easier for them and us over time.  We just have to put our big girl panties on and either pay too much or tell them we are looking for less and deal with the conseqences.

Melissa, you are a dear for taking up the cause here.  Isn't it obsurd? Most involved here can't possilby believe the "accent" was raceist anymore than had they been seated in a theatre watching the scene play out on stage. When I realized that I offended Pepsi, I was disheartened and apologized.  It should have stopped there. 
My mistake was opening up my mind's eye to let the scene in my head play out publiclly where certain folks linger on the fringes of their own misery looking to stir up trouble. 
But we don't fight against flesh and blood..........my username  may bring some amount of hatred regardless of what I have to say.  Had I suspected that, I'd have used something different when I joined this site in '07. It may come to that, b/c I will continue to come here for  the good of what I recieve and offer on rare occassions.

She absolutely does. Just like everyone else here has the same right. Just don't act surprised when the act on that right.

Let me explain something. You posted on a PUBLIC message board. That means that anyone in the PUBLIC that reads it can post to it. It also means that you may not get sunshine and rainbows blown up your butt.

Also, not every one believes in god. And just because they believe in god, doesn't mean it's the same god you do. You can quote staples from your religion but be prepared for other people to rebut your thought process with staples from their religion or science.

Elizabeth, What are you talking about?   I never said that the public shouldn't post to my thread.  Who wants sunshine and rainbows up in any part of their anotomy?  Your response doesn't fit here and even though I'm adjusting for my idiocy, I still don't see what it much has to do with.  
So much of this thread got discombobulated and out of order though b/c of the the buzz on it all  at once.  I have mail to clear up and am attempting to figure some of this out but still, it is over now. Let's all move forward.
