Thank you Wanda.  Your wisdom and sensitivity are just what we needed here. A few good things came out of all the wasted time on the thread, but most importantly, I "met" some dear souls who are worth calling friends and learned a thing or two about those to avoid. I remember when I first started coming to this "playground" in 07 just looking for inspiration, knowledge and validation. When folks started this garbage; attacking  and distracting from the real issues, I didn't want to be a part of it and stopped coming to get the help I so desperatly needed.  In additrion to hurting Pepi's feelings, I'm sorry for starting something that allowed  newbies to possibly turn away or distract from more important issues pertaing to the band.  I really just wanted to sharemy experience w/ the cad and get some feedsback.  I mistakenly misued humor to get the scene across. In addition to learning that some folks lurk just waiting to sling mud and offer no other valualbe discussion otherwise never to be seen/heard from again, I learned that I could stay quite busy on this laptop/site and consume far less calories than b4 trying to survive being thrown under another bus!
I'm so glad I found  some kind comrads like yourself,  brave enough to come to my defense and so many sweet personal messages of encouragement.
Thanks for your input, friend!

I think leaving was exactly the thing that should have been done! They don't deserve your business. First of all I feel they should have taken the card. The cost of your meal is definatly less than most adult meals. I would not have chose to eat there if mine was declined. Walking out and taking the additional revenue with you of the other members of your family is the only way to discourage them from refusing to take the cards.

Furthermore.............she had lot of nerve talking to u like she did. I would have left immediatly at that point as well.

U repeated what the hostess said. This is not racial! Her grammer was incorrect.  I see nothing wrong with u repeating the statement she made!

I realize that some members here choose not to use the card and that is fine. But for those that do they should be treated with respect regardless of weather or not the restaurant chooses to honor the card.

Maria, thanks for sharing.  I have never used the card once in the time I've been banded and even at my highest weightloss of 110 have I ever expected any special treatment or attention. Heaven forbid!!  That was the least of my desires.  I had remembered someone on here commenting on the card a while back and it reminded me that maybe I should use it if I ever go to a buffet.  They are pricy, about $16 for adults and up to $10 for children depending on height.  Anyhow, the replys that incinuated I wanted attention were way off.  My surgeon gives the card to his patients so apparently they are accepted/expected somewhere. In anycase, you are spot on. The hostess' loud hysterics drawing attention to my request like I was some kind of shop lifter was the issue regardless of ethnicity.  Most people reading my post could "read" that, but ........................it turned ugly and I've spent the day dealing with the backlash.  Serves me right, 'suppose.
I feel sorry for that woman, actually, b/c I was a business owner for years and  the costumer is to be respected regardless especially in public view.  How do you suppose the other patrons felt about her response?  That attitude benefits not an establishment.
Thanks for coming to my defense,  It's nice to see an outstreched hand along the wayward way.
Blessings,
Lin

Our Chinese buffet is $5.29 at lunch

Seafood is included at lunch, but no crab legs.

Crab legs are on weekends ---> at night and then the buffet

is more but certainly not $16 it is $12 Last I heard. We

go and get something to take home and eat for 4 days out

of one lunch.  $5.29 divided up for 4 meals for 1 person I

don't need a card. That runs about $1.40 for  each lunch for

me or my husband.

Wow, thanks for the inside info. Sophia Maria.  I'm considering getting out of Jersey.  Forget about the taxes, the darn Buffets are killing us up here.  LOL.
I finally laughed OUTLOUD after a full day of being heart sick.  Thanks for the lightening the tone!

"The hostess' loud hysterics drawing attention to my request like I was some kind of shop lifter was the issue regardless of ethnicity."

If this was the case and you actually meant it, then there would have been NO reference or mimicking regarding her accent. You specificially brought attention to that and wanted that to be your point. So yes, deep down, to you, it definitely did have to do with ethnicity. PERIOD!

And you wrote the story so you know, right?  Whatever.  It happened to me, I should know.  If you're saying you don't believe me that's different.  Either way, I'm so over ya'll trying to bury me.

If it walks like a duck...
and quacks like a duck... It's a duck.

Bury you? Lady, you and your "closet" bigotry buried yourself!

If you can not take a bit of public heat, try not to post on a public forum.

Just saying!
