I just don't get it....

My hubby was out of town recently and when he's gone I tend to munch uncontrolably due to boredom sitting in front of the TV. the following morning I was hesitant to weigh myself because I knew the scale would read at least a few punds higher than normal. Not so, instead it read that I had lost a couple of pounds. Needless to say I was extremely relieved and surprised. So, yesterday I did the same thing and assumed I had gained again. Once again not so. I actually registered at the lowest weight I've seen in probably 10 years. I'm almost into the 170's. Only 2lbs to go. I do know that weightloss stalls if you don't get in enough calories, but the amount of calories I consumed both times was well over 1200. Should I keep eating like this or just try it once in a while to see if this is just a fluke or if this is actually working in my favor? So confused!

I think it's the fluctuation. Over Thank giving I was so bad! Drank, ate what I wanted..I actually lost. But other times when I have cheated over a few days, I have gained. It really makes no sense. -Nikki

So based on what I have been doing..... Get back on track!!!!

I have been indulging for the last few weeks. Initially it was just going to be a few days but it has turned into WEEKS. At first yes the weight came off... I was out of my plateau. NOW as of this week... the weight is coming back on me.

So lesson learned here, I do not have the courage to stop myself from eating just a few bad things for a few days. If I am going to have something bad, I just need to limit it to that one setting. Not a day.... just one setting (ie snack).

I just don't want you to have to have experienced my downfall.

It is amazing how a few pounds gain can make a difference in your cloths!!!

Don't do it all of the time but yes upping your calories for a day or two at a time can help shock your system into a loss again. I know people who will eat 1200 calories 5 days a week then up to 1800 2 days a week.

While it may be possible that you were / are not taking in suffiecient calories, your post  sounds a bit like you are contemplating allowing yourself to continue with the mindless eating / munching.

Address the boredom, it's part of the necessary lifestyle changes that go along with lap band surgery. You may want to consult with your Dr.'s Psychologist for help in dealing with the issue.

Let's get real here for a minute, you've had success, you've gotten away with some old habits recently and you're  probably subconciously thinking, hey I like this munching thing, I really miss it.   Bad Idea!!!

If you had said, I 've been munching uncontrolably on healthy low fat / low carb/ nutritious snacks it would be one thing but I suspect that's not the case.

Clear your mind and get back on track.  If you are going to add some calories to fight a weight stall, then plan them ahead of time, make good choices and keep a close watch on things.

Good Luck

Actually, weight loss doesn't stall if you eat too few calories.  Scientifically, that just doesn't make sense otherwise aneorexics would eventually stop losing weight.  You body going into starvation mode is widely debated today for that reason.  Your metabolism may slow down, but you won't stop losing.

It takes a while for your body to metabolize what you give it as fuel, so unless it's purely water weight it may take a few days for additional calories to cause a weight gain, but eventually it will if you continue to take in more than you burn.  It's simply science.  In order to lose weight you must eat less calories than you burn.

Don't worry about a few bad days.  Just get back on track and drink your fluids, exercise and watch those carbs.  You'll be fine!  The key is to not let a couple of days turn into a week or more of bad eating.  That's when the weight will sneak up on you!

Take care and work on why you munch uncontrolably when your DH is out of town.  If your bored, you have to find a diversion.

You can do this!  If I can, you can!

From my own experiences with weight loss unbanded, I find it takes a few days of binging to show on the scale.  So I may be down intially but it does catch up to me.  That's my own experience though.  It may be that the little binge fueled your metabolism out of the same ol' same ol' it has been used to.
