So, I have an appt with a podiatrist on Weds for  foot pain that I believe is planar fasciitis (sorry, I cant spell worth a darn!) Im looking for some new shoes especially sandals and flip flops since that is what I preferr during the summer.  I also will need a new pair of shoes for class, and those have to be non slip. I was planning on getting the Crocs bistro shoes until someone informed me that Crocs are really bad for your feet??? IDK.

My biggest problem is I need wide shoes. I wear a 9.5-10 Wide. I 99.99% of the time cant wear a shoe unless it specifically says Wide. Many times I buy men's flip flops too. Im guessing those days are over. Sooooo, what brand do you  like?

For my plantar fasciitis I like danskos, mephistos, clarks, sofft and I just bought a pair of ugg flipflops that feel terrific.  What I look for is a slight heel and a cushiony sole, esp at the heel.

I've also had luck with thicker reef flipflops for being near water

Danskos. They make them in sandles, too. You can get them stretched out at the store so there isn't any problem with it rubbing on the sides or top of your foot...

ALSO--go to a running store and ask for arch support inserts. GOOD ones for the PF. They will cost you about 35-40 bucks but they can go in any shoes and make a WORLD of difference.

ALSO--do you have a foot stretcher for home? That helps a lot, too.

Good luck!

Thanks, I am looking at the Danskos since they come in non-slip.

I havent picked up anything yet, I want to make sure I get a real diagnosis first and I have developed a new symptom now. along with the arch and heel pain, yesterday I started having a pulling/tingling sensation across the top of my foot, right before my toes. Its kinda the same feeling as tendonitis I had in my arm.

I love Sofft and Saucony! I also have PF and weaker ankles, and I have wide feet.  The Saucony sneakers are the first wide sneakers I've found that really stabilize my ankles. They run about $89 (Saucony Grid Omni Walker), and you can buy that at www.footsmart.com, along with alot of other products for your feet, but I'm only vouching for these sneakers. LOL

Good luck!

Hi Mary,
I am sorry to here about you foot pain.  I know the pain you are going through
My husband has Planar fascists and had to get shots every 3 to 6 month.  We bought us both a pair of  Sketcher (shape ups)  he said they were the best shoe he has ever wore, he can walk with out the  pain in his heel.  They come in non slip also.
Good luck hope it gets better.

Take this for what it's worth... lol...

My dad had wicked plantar fasciitis, and was at his wit's end.  He had been seeing a podiatrist and getting cortisone shots for the pain.  He couldn't even hardly stand up first thing in the morning.  Anyway, he wrote in his Christmas letter "By the way, if anyone knows a cure for plantar fasciitis.." as a wisecrack.

One of his cousins called him and said, "Soak your feet in white vinegar for 30 minutes a day."  My dad, a total skeptic, had tried everything else in the book, so he gave it a shot and soaked his feet in white vinegar while sitting at his computer.  After about 2 weeks, the pain was totally gone.  It hasn't come back, either.

He told some friends of his at his golf club about it, and they tried it and it worked for them, too.  And one guy who had heel spurs gave it a shot and it worked.

So, if you're desperate, maybe you could try it.

I have no idea!  I mean, if you've tried everything else, it can't hurt.  At least it's all-natural.  Stinky, but natural. ;)
