I think I'm losing my mind...............lol
I am a week away from my surgery (14th) and am feeling overwhelmed to the point of tears at times. I'm trying to get my house in order (literally.....lol) and keep on top of my load at work. I am not second guessing my decision to get my band - in fact I cannot wait! I've been living on the forum and surviving by reading positive posts.........lol.
I know that this is stress - but since misery loves company (lol) - I'm just wondering if any of you experienced the same and how you dealt with it.
Thanks
Sharon

Hi Sharon!
I was not nervous but I have already had a few other surgeries under my belt. Try to look at this as a new beginning!
The surgery it self is not that painful, I was able to sit up from a laying down position without assistance the day after surgery.
The unknown is always scary, but with your positive attitude ... you will fly thru this!
Funny note here, when I returned to work after being absent from work for 10 days, co-workers were mentioning how wonderful and how happy I looked! I kid you not...how great is that?! They were told I had a stomach hernia repair (party true). I was even told by two coworkers that I look like I've lost weight! I think I now carry myself differently and maybe just the inside feeling of being "hopeful" shows!
You are going sail through this and I can not wait to hear how wonderful you are doing because of this surgery! If I can help answer any ?s that you might have please let me know!

Thanks Joy - I'm not so worried about the actual surgery itself (largely due to positive posters like you
), It's more like I can't catch up and get organized - but I know that I just have to get my ...t together.........lol.
Thanks for the tip on what to tell people about my absence re: my surgery though - I am going to tell a little white lie and say it was a hernia repair......lol. Just till I feel up to full disclosure.
Thanks again - Sharon

No worries Sharon.....it will all come together in the end. Recruit your family to help you at home and if it doesn't get done really will anyone care? It's time to think of yourself for a change. I think that is how we all got ourselves into our wt issues. We are taking care of everyone else. Let someone take care of you. My husband has surprisingly pulled through for me. Good luck next week. You will do great!

I am having surgery on Monday the 10th and I am doing the same thing. I find I am super emotional at times and sensitive.Kinda like PMS .LOL I also am trying to get the house geared up for me being out of commission for a few days. My hubby will be here to help but still you know how we women worry about stuff. So you are not alone . I too know this is what I want and am going to do but it does not make it much easier at times. I think it is just us responding to the stress of everything. Just keep remembering why we are doing this in the first place .That is what I try to do . I think about how much better I feel after losing the 14lbs pre-op and how much better the next 14 are gonna feel.(((HUGS)))
Good luck on Monday - I'll be right behind you on the Friday. You'll be a pro by then.......lol. Just before I read your post I had gotten a bit emotional - and you're right - it's just like PMS. I never know what is going to set me off. I opened an email with a soldier coming home and being greeted by his Golden Retriever - the dog was so excited and crawling up on his lap and then the water works started. So what did I do? I played it again...........I am such a sadist..........lol
Of course just for fun - I've got my birthday tomorrow and Mother's Day on Sunday - two hard day I always find.
I am going to shake it off and suck it up.............lol. (but first I will have a good cry.........lol) What else do women and mom's do? Thanks for the commiserating.........
I'll be thinking about you on Monday

Hi,
Oh boy can I relate! I had lots of stuff going on. At work I had a boss that expected me to accomplish then next month's worth of work before I even left and to start working from home virtually the moment I came out of surgery. Impossible. lol
At home, there were a gazillion and one things to take care of to make my life easier for the next few days. After I came home, my plan was to lay around guilt free and rest while nothing got behind. It worked pretty well, all that cleaning kept me from worrying too much about the surgery : ) I also kept thinking about how life transforming this was going to be for me and that helped make the time go by easier.

Hi Trixie - Thanks for the reply. I was pretty sure I was not alone in all of this.....lol. Work can be a demon - but at least I work at our family business that my hubby and I run. I am my own boss and hardest on me.....lol. My plan is to go in to my office in the evenings when no one is there to keep a bit on top of my work - that is if I'm feeling up to it. I can also do some of my work remotely from home via my computer.
I do best under pressure usually (well for others anyhow...........lol). So I'm hoping to be able to kick it into gear and distract myself like you did.
Thanks again

Hey Sharon!
How about making a list? Im a big list maker. Even put small things on there. As you cross them off you can see the things you have accomplished.
Im a worrier too, so that didnt help any, I was worried about making sure I had everything ready to go...but I practically ran into the hospital. I was SO ready to have my surgery.
Good Luck!

Hi Mary
I know what you mean about the lists - I have so many post-it's on my desk right now.......lol. I was just thinking that I should go get a full pad of paper and do exactly that. I agree with you about seeing things get crossed off. Also, when I get stressed like this my mind jumps all over the place and if things are not written down I'm afraid they will be missed.
I'm looking forward to getting "knocked out" on Friday - at least my mind won't be torturing me for 45 -60 minutes..............lol
Thanks!
Sharon
