I was wondering if anyone eats beef? My NUT says not to because it doesn't go through the band very well. I only just had my surgery on 5/10 but I know with grilling season upon us that I'm going to want a hamburger and/or a steak. :(

I was told I could have ground meat including hamburger once I'm on solids.  It just has to be really moist - like add salsa or in chili - but you have to take tiny bites (like on a baby spoon) and chew, chew, chew.  Steak could be tricky and I think I'd stay away until I was a pro at chewing...........lol

I was never told not to eat beef. I was just told to be careful with it. That being said I eat at Texas Roadhouse about 3 times month other than that I don't eat much beef except in chili. I take small bites and chew chew chew. But as always follow your DR recommendations.

I have never had any problem with beef, chicken etc just make sure when you cook it you don't dry it out or you put some kind of sauce on it

I've never had an issue with beef, but you should be careful when you eat it

I'll bet if you made swiss steak in the oven with lots of tomatoes and cooked it till it fell apart it would be better - so long as you chew, chew, chew

I eat steak and beef regularly.
I have never had any issues with it...I choose not to keep my band too tight because I don't want to end up eating soft foods the rest of my life..
I'm on low carb and being able to eat all kinds of meat is essential!

My surgeon doesn't really stress on a lot of fills.  I have yet to have my first, but I noticed here that a lot of people discuss it quite a bit.  The dr. talks about "working the band" more and says that a tighter band isn't always necessary.  So I find it interesting to hear that you keep your band looser.  I know I'm just in recovery, but I can really feel a restriction with no fill so I'm hoping I won't need too many.

PS - I am going to stick to low carb as well.
