Got stuck so bad on Saturday that I nearly passed out

I feel like a true bander now.  Yikes!   I am almost a year out and was so excited because I have never had a bad stuck episode like others have.  I had a fill last Monday.  I didn't have much in my band so I was given about 1cc.  Up until this point I was comfortable able to eat ANYTHING.  That all changed!!  On Saturday I was eating chicken and brussell sprouts.  I popped the last brussel sprout in my mouth and started talking to my husband....I completely forgot about chewing and suddenly the pain started.  Ugh...worst feeling ever...I think I would rather of been in labor.  I started burping which didn't help.  Then I started dry heaving, then PBing...the pain would get better, then worse.  The pain got to the point where I was doubling over, crying, moaning.  My husband was freaking out because I normally take pain like a champ.  I knew that I was very close to passing out because everything started getting fuzzy, so Travis ran and got me a cold washcloth.   After about an hour of this, I got sick one more time and felt complete relief.  TMI, but one little leaf came up that time and I seriously think that was what gave me all of that pain!  I just started feeling better last night, my band was so irritated. I still wouldn't trade my band for anything but PLEASE learn from my mistake and CHEW CHEW CHEW.  I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone!

isn't it horrible?  I haven't been that bad and it hurts like hell so I can only imagine.  I'm glad you're feeling better.  With more restriction you'll find each day is a little different so really THINK while you're eating.  Chicken may go down fine on Monday, but on Thursday it can be a whole new ballgame.  I think that's the only thing I dislike with my band thus far...the unknown

Sooner or later it happens to everyone, so take some consolation in knowing that you're not alone in that sometimes life (forgetting to chew enough or talking while eating) gets in the way.

I have found that taking some water very very slowly in small sips (about 1 - 2  tablespoons at a time can help in getting unstuck.)

I'm sorry you had to go through that but now you know that band is working. For reals working for you and giving you for reals consequences when you don't follow the rules or pay attention!  For a month or so at the beginning I had to sequester myself away from everyone. I couldn't have the TV on or anything or I'd not chew well enough.  Welcome to the club

Hey Ashely, Im totally with you. I believe my band it too tight though, but thats a whole 'nother story.

I had a fried egg cut up with grits saturday night. Very small bites (since Im so tight) went down ok, but since my fill I seem to get an after effect...10 minutes after eating and cleaning up, I really felt like I had eaten concrete cereal or something.

I started walking and stepping on my Wii Fit board, nothing. then it hit me all of a sudden and I went running to the bathroom. 45 minutes spent throwing up and trying to walk it off. Finally, I just grabbed a glass of water and chugged it, knowing it would come right back up....yep...it did. I finally felt better. It was awful!

I know how painful that is!!  Did you stick to softer foods or liquids the day after? Sometimes your tummy can get so irritated that it's impossible to eat solid foods the day after.
Honest to goodness that happened to me EVERY single time I tried to eat solid foods when I had my band. I just couldn't do it.  It turned out that my stomach was twisted around the band, so that was the reason! I remember that pain all too well and feel for you completely!
