Hi Everyone.

my name is Kelly and I am 26 years old my highest weight was 315lbs. I am now down to about 298 and I scheduled to have surgery for the Lap Band on January 11, 2012. I looking to see if any woman has gone through the Lap band and had sucess becoming pregnant? I have been trying to become pregnant for about 3 years. I was diagnosed with PCOS back in Early 2010. I watched my carbs and took ym medicine but nothing helped. I then stated to see a Fertility Specialist in March of 2011 after 4 tries with clomid and leostrol and insemination. After the unsuccessful attempts I had to take a step back and evaluate the fact that I cant even get pregnant how I going to maintain a pregnancy if I am so unhealthly. That is when I decided to research WLS.

So after that little back story I am just trying to see if any woman has had any sucess getting pregnant after the LapBand Surgery?

I havent gotten pregnant ( on bc not trying now)  but I got my 1st period in years after having surgery.  I always had to take meds to get it.  Dr now saw follicles at my last exam which I never had before.  I too have pcos and endometriosis.  My husband and I tried to get pregnant for 6 years

We have several people on this board who have gottne pg after WLS.  I haven't seen several of them in awhile..probably because they're busy living life with a baby.  I think there's a pg after wt loss surgery board on OH you may want to check out

I personally never had issues getting pregnant even at 363 pounds, but my sister like you had many many difficulties and she wasn't even that big, she lost 50 pounds on weigh****ches and friday we are celebrating her baby shower :) it is a miracle after so many years , medical exams ,pills and fertility attempts!!! so my advice focus and atleast lose 50 pounds first remember plan the pregnancy atleast one year after wls...

Best wishes to you :) happy holidays

I got pregnant after the band. I had my latest daughter May 18th and I am pregnant again! This third baby took us by surprise! But we are so excited.
I had no complications and gained weight fine (probably too fine!)and was able to loose most of it before this third round. I have a ton of extra skin so my belly did not show for a while but other than that I was healthy! Good luck.

I had a band placed in 2007, and was able to get pregnant twice in 09 (unfortunately miscarried the first time) with no issue (first or second month of trying both times).  But unlike you I have not had PCOS or any other "girly" issues, my periods have always been regular and I can feel when I ovulate. I was about 260 when I got pregnant.  I had about 6cc in my band, and had it unfilled to 4ccs. The nice thing is I only gained about 15 lbs with the pregnancy and after giving birth I was 5 lbs lower than before I got pregnant.

After pregnancy I think is when my band just started not to agree with me, tightening for no reason, had to have unfill after unfill, tons of heartburn, and found out I have a slip. I don't blame the pregnancy but it may have changed my body a little and it just doesn't like the band anymore. The band was a nice tool to have in place while pregnant.

That said I wouldn't advise anyone get the band, you should do some more research, complications and failure rates are HIGH. I am revising to VSG and plan to try for another baby 12-18 months later.  I only ever lost a net of 49 lbs, (309 to 260) despite being as compliant as possible (tight bands don't let you eat healthy food).

So it is possible, but like I said I don't have any of the other fertility complications, I don't know if that helps you at all. :/  Best of luck!

Edit: thought my age might help. I was 35 when I got pregnant in 09.
