Just wanted to share that I finally after 3 1/2 years of waiting, got my referral to the surgeon! I see them October 4th. Things are getting backed up with one of the Dr's going on mat leave.
I thought my referral was Jan of 2011 but it was 2010 so I've been waiting longer than I thought. Who knew? Just glad it is finally coming together. Iron is a little low as well as vitamin D but Jillian got me all fixed up today.
Just wanted to share and Michelle it was nice to talk to you again today!

Is a hernia or gall bladder problems still worth it after the weight loss?
CHANGE of VENUE
It has been brought to my attention that the Smitty's on Pembina and Grant is NOT conducive to host a MEET and GREET.
Back to Smitty's on South Pembina?
28 August 2013
the problem with that smittys is there is no private room.we have used that one before and had to sit in the open.it was very hard trying to talk to people when others around us are trying to eat or visit also. Our group tends to get a little louder so a private room would be better.
I hope the surgery goes well and the result is a healthier pain free life for you. Take care of yourself and let us know how it went.

I had my surgery 3 June 2013 and feel great. To date I have not had any of the above complications. Thank goodness. As others have posted - all surgeries have risks.
I heard/read that gall stones and gall bladder issues are not a result of RNY but rather a result of rapid weight loss. Apparently to avoid this one must keep the bile from "pooling" - in other words a high fiber diet - to keep things moving. :)
My stomach talks to me (gurgles) on a regular basis, pre-surgery I never heard a peep. I think of it as my stomach's way of thanking me for feeding it healthy food.
I have not had problems with dumping at all. I have had a few high fat foods and high sugar foods (tastes not servings) and have been fine. Having said that I am not brave enough to try servings. The threat of dumping is enough for me to stay way.
I have a few behaviour issues that I am trying to work on,obviously nothing to do with the surgery:
- I struggle with not drinking while eating especially when dining out. I am getting better but it is slow going.
- I was not great at taking my vitamins daily - yikes! I am happy to say after forgetting for a couple days I bought myself a weekly pill container. Now as long as I remember to fill it and take the vitamins out of the container every day - all will be well.
- I have been kinda lax in exercise - walking lots but I feel I need to do more. Something structured or more formal - I am looking at signing up for a couple classes in the fall.
- I have never been a breakfast eater and still am not a fan of that first meal of the day.
I attended one MEET and GREET and loved it. I sat with 3.5 (3 sat at my table - 1 kinda bopped between two tables) other successes and learned a ton. If you get a chance to attend one I highly recommend it. The women I sat with were all "sleevers" and were happy with their decision and they looked fantastic. I spoke to 2 RNY-ers and they too were happy.
I am now off topic and rambling but feel free to msg me anytime
I'm good with the 28th evening also. A more central location would be appreciated.
I was thinking the same thing...lol...Surgery in 3 weeks...scared but I am looking forward to being pain free.
