Wow! Only 3 days! Good luck - I will be thinking of you!
Thanks for your email....
Hello. I was accepted into the program in Jan/2012 and went for my orientation at the end of Feb/2013. Unfortunately, I had a few setbacks because of the receptionist who has since left the clinic, lost my referral letter, then lost my orientation questionnaire plus a few other mistakes were made. All that to say, I met the team (nutritionist/nurse/psychologist/kinesiologist) by April (in 2 separate appointments) and was given the plan to follow. I had my follow-up in June (I can't remember the date) and was approved for surgery. Again, there was a mix-up with my referral to the surgeon so didn't get an appointment until July 16 for my first surgeon's appointment. I was given a surgery date .... Wednesday, Aug. 14!! So, my wait was about 19 months for acceptable to surgery. Hope this helps.
Thanks to all 3 of you *****plied..
Good Luck on your surgery tmrw Kelly

I go for my RNY tomorrow morning.
I decided on the RNY not because of this forum but because of a friend of mine who had it done in Ontario a few years back, as well as the numerous positive YouTube videos.
All I know is if you want to take advantage of the greater weight loss RNY provides and want to prevent complications, you can't have any prior history of stomach problems and you have to follow the plan to the letter.
I'm hoping my hard work pays off as I am only planning to be off work for 2 weeks. I'll certainly post my results, good or bad.
As long as I meet my goals the team set out for me then I will meet with the surgeons and get a date. Times/waits vary, the whole program is a work in progress. They used to book follow up meetings 2 months apart but they found more people were successful when given 3 months to meet the goals.
wouldn't it be great if the manitoba program doctors, nurses or patient was able to go to atleast one of the US confrences.I think that they should send someone to one of these as it would be an eye opener for any of the doctors.maybe then they would be inclined to push for more us products, classes or information to be avalible to all of us.
I understand that our program is still young but we do not have all of the resources that should be availble to us.
there is so much information and products that most of you dont know about.i try and post as much as i can but it should be through the program.
i would have loved to have gone this weekend to the big confrence in arizona but $ prevented me :(
they are so cheap to actually go and you get amazing samples there.maybe if i can get together the funds i can go to the one in october and bring back major samples :)
these are just thoughts i had.

Thanks Dawn - that gives me an idea on timelines. Will your date be scheduled at your October meeting?
It sounds like they are accommodating for out of towners and schedule appts all at once - that's good news for me.
