LOL!!  I never thought to invite you guys down the road for this.  Maybe next year you can come down and be a loser with me? Hmmmm... They allow teams to compete so maybe we can enter "Team WLS" and RUN the 5K??? Any takers???

Wahoo Eric!  Congrats on this MAJOR accomplishment. You are the Eric that was hiding in the suit you saw in the mirror before surgery.
Hugs!

Eric,  Congratulations.......isn't it a great feeling?  I am almost 4 years post op and I have found that signing up for these events has been a real motivator to keep up with the exercise which we all know is so vital to our success at maintaining our weight losses.   I remember starting out at Curves and then on to a real "gym membership."  My first 5K was so liberating, I keep signing up for more.  I completed my first Iron Girl Triathlon this past summer and have already registered for the event next year.  I also completed the 62 mile bike ride in Lance Armstrong's recent event in Columbia, MD.   I never thought I could walk much less run in anything like these events. I remember back to the days when I sat at 312 pounds and could barely walk out to the mailbox without huffing and puffing.   It's amazing what you can do when you progress through our journeys.  Keep up the good work, Eric.  Stay motivated.....life life to the fullest.  Joann

Eric, Way to go!   Keep at it and you never know where you might end up. I ran my first 5k about 3months out from surgery.   I am now 9 months out and just found myself regsitering for the Frederick 1/2 marathon (13 miles) and the Baltimore full marathon (26 miles). Careful though.  If you get the running bug it can become as addictive food was before the surgery! :-) Keep up the good work and I will look for you at some upcomming races!

Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa , a lion wakes up. It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

I will certainly start training to run the next 5K but I just don't see it becoming an addiction.  LOL.
