So DH has decided that it is time HIS life gets back to normal... SO we are going on a date for New Years.  SO I need help. I am 4 wks now- will be 5 wks at the time of date. I am pretty much on a reg low fat diet now.  I have tried a few foods and have basically done good with chicken. Not so much luck with others though- Red meat- did it once NOT READY yet. Eggs- Nope.   I am a picky eater to begin with, and have some food adversions with textures. And I tend to be a plain Jane kinda person with my food.  I need ideas of where to go and this can be an enjoyable evening for both of us. All of my previos favorites are out of the question. Please give me some ideas- I need to make this night good for him. He has been so good to me throughout the last month.

Anywhere that might have a crab dip, soup, cheese quesadilla, refried beans (burrito), etc.  Have a wonderful evening and try to concentrate on the company and not the food.  Remember no drinking while eating!!  Have fun! TraciL

We went to Timbuktu since hubby wanted to hve steak and crab cake.  I had the crem of crab soup it was yummy and more than enough for me that early on.   I didn't do good with a chicken quesadilla that early.  I stood away from read meat until I was like 5 months post op. I am now enjoying eggs again but they have to be moist scrambled with cheese in it.  Not bolied life is so much different after RNY.   Like Traci said focus on enjoying his company and don't worry about food.  Have soup that you might like doesn't have to be a cream soup.   Have a wonderful time together and enjoy. Hugs,

I'm a bandster, so the food issues are a little different, but I have found that ordering off the appetizer menu usually works pretty well for me.  You have to go somewhere that has mini-portions of real foods as appetizers and not just junky stuff (e.g., fried cheese).  Another option is to get a substantial soup like clam chowder.  I did that a couple of times during mushies.  I am now to the point where I can manage a dinner salad.  Obviously much of the salad will go uneaten, but I can usually pick the protein out first, then eat some of the veggies. Any place that has a nice crab soup. At your stageof the game, I wouldn't even try to sip any wine or champagne. It will buzz you so fast, your head will spin.  I would also try to go someplace where you can dance. You may find that to be so much fun. I know I did and do.

Hope you guys have fun!  Good suggestions so far.  Also I would suggest any of your old faves that have a large selection of appetizers.  The Cheesecake Factory comes to mind.  Spinach dip, etc.

Hey There, When I go out to eat at restaurants I pretty much stick to soup and garden salads.  Most restaurants have soups....I will stick with broth based soups, cream based soups upset my stomach so early out.  Hope it helps and have fun:) Jen
