Saturday I had:
b - Scrambled eggs with MUSTARD
l - Chicken salad (1 ounce canned 98% fat free chicken packed in water, 1/2 tablespoon of Smart Balance light mayo, a squirt of spicy brown mustard) and 6 grapes
d - same as lunch
and i had one protein shake in there somewhere. Didn't make my protein quota for the day but I've been really good about it, I figure one day of missing the mark wouldn't hurt. BTW, that chicken salad may sound terrible but it's ambrosia for me compared to what I had been eating for the month before LOL
Sunday, I had:
b - well I didn't have any, I woke up REALLY late so I drank first and breakfast became lunch
l - Chicken salad and about 6 or 7 grapes
d - same as above
One protein shake again......really bad weekend for protein. I gotta figure out a way to get my protein in AND have a social life.

Hi Aaron,
For being this early out from surgery you are doing pretty good. I barely got 30 grams of protein in a day for the first 2 months. You are doing really good.
When you look at your protein requirement don't look at it as if you have to reach 70 at once. For example if you reached 30 today then set a goal to reach 40 tomorrow that makes it easier to get to your goal.
My nutritionist gave me that idea and it worked great for me.
Now what's up with eggs and mustard??? LOL Ever since I had surgery I don't like eating hard boiled eggs anymore it is as if they go down really dry. So I prefer to have them sunnyside up.
Make sure to drink up your fluids.
Take care

Cira,
You know ever since I was a kid I've always eaten mustard on my eggs :) I've been using the better 'n eggs in the carton......they actually cook up a bit moist (I'm used to dry eggs myself....actually browned--yeah mom used to burn or overcook a lot and I got used to it LOL). As for the protein, I've usually not had a problem with it at all.....it's just trying to fit my eating and protein schedule into a more active lifestyle. It's easy when I'm home and don't have to go to work. Tomorrow should be interesting.
Aaron
Aaron,
You can buy the ready protein drink to have with you. Carry a small cooler to keep them cold.
Also have your protein snack with you be prepared so hen you are busy socializing you alreay have wat you need for yourself. I would suggest doing this until you are at least 6 months post op to help with your protein intake. It is important to be vigilant in your protein intake.
Have a great day back at work!
