Maryland Under State of Emergency Already??
I think after Katrina, some gov agencies learned a very good, but painful lesson. The smart ones will be prepared, and worry about cancelling things later. Declaring a state of emergency early enough allows funds to be allocated for additional labor, and makes it more worthwhile for those who would be on call to wait it out, because they know they are guaranteed some money for their efforts. Plus, any federal funding can be allocated early on, in case we need it. O'Malley hasn't done much, or lived up to most of his promises, but once in awhile he thinks ahead I guess.
I sure hope we don't need any of this. But, after living through several tropical storms when I lived in FL, I'm glad we are fairly well prepared.
Be safe everyone!

Yeah I think your right although looong before Katrina there was a time Maryland would MASS PANIC for EVERY STORM! LOLOL I can recall being in the 9th grade and having to get out of school for an early emergency closing because this BIG HURRICANE ANDREW was going to hit us hard. We all rushed home less then half day as scared as could be and the sun stayed out. We were all out in the neighborhood playing. LOL We never even had rain. Now that was something! LOLOLOL
