Just checking in.....
Hello everyone! I havent felt the best in the past week or so, matter of fact, I pretty much felt like death! Every taste, smell, and thought of food made my pouchy ill. I couldnt stomach my vitamins because they had gotten toooooo sweet for me. So I was miserable........very very nausaeated {sp?} and weak. But my order of vitamins came in, and yesterday I started feeling better! Today is my forst day out of bed in a week! I am here to tell ya, I was ILL!!!!!!
Today I have been able to keep water down, and I have eaten several small meals. I definitely feel better! I even had enough ambition to shower & take a walk outside! I have my hubby yelling at me cuz he is afraid I am over doing it, but dang it, after a week in bed, I needed it!
I do have a question tho for you "old timers"........when I was so sick to my stomach, my home health nurse told me to nibble on crackers! I was a tad confused.......carbs? Isnt that a no no? I hve to admit I did it tho......my pouchy seemed slightly happier after I ate a half a cracker.
As for my hole in my staple in that wanted to stay open......it is still open. It does look better & it is healing. Its still sore when they stick that long a** stick down inside to pack it tho!
I just wanted to touch base because I havent been here in awhile....sorry for the gorey details! But at least I am seeing light at the end of the tunnel!
Hugs to all!

Hi Heather,
I am so sorry you was feeling so ill. i am glad you are feeling better today. Remember I told you, you might go through tyat stage of the smells and bad taste? Hopefully you are finally on rthe upswing of this and soon you will start getting a burst of energy and start feeling like you have a new lease on life.
I know packing the incision is a doozy. But it will start closing up soon.
As for the carbs sweetie. Most of everything that we eat has carbs. It is ok to have carbs in moderation. Now one thing that saved my life for the first 4 weeks post op was carbs. Guess what my doctor was ok with it, It was all I could basically stomach without getting so sauseated. I lived on mashed potatoes with melted cheese. I ate saltine crackers for my queezy pouch and Later like 3 weeks post I had cream of crab soup was high on carbs and calories and girl it was my life saver.
You will do just fine a cracker will not hurt you. You are at the highest part of the malnutrition and if that helps your "pouchy" then you will be ok,
Hugs and glad to hear from you. Please pm me your number I misplaced it.

Oh Heather, I feel so bad for you. I had VSG in Feb. and felt great right away, 5 days out I caught a horrible flu/virus, and ice chips wouldn't even stay down. I was really sick, and was told by my Dr and Dietitian, forget the WLS rules, do what you can to keep something down. I was given Ginger ale, pretzels, crackers, eggs, I also was worried that I was not following the rules of WLS. A week to 10 days later, I was better, and the carbs and soda disappeared. So, do what you need to do, to build your strength, and feel better. Once you are all better, that's the time to start with the rules. Good luck, and take care of yourself. BABY STEPS, Leslie:)
