What a great thought Sylvie - keep it up - I promise to try to contribute to it when I can.

And today is the perfect day for it for me - I was having one of those self conversations this morning - yes I am certifiable about the powers of forcing yourself to remain positive and, more accurately, focused on the blessing on my life.  So your timing was perfect.

Here is a small list of my many blessings for which I am thankful today:

My children - I continue to receive more wisdom from them then I impart to them - recently it has been about how important it is to be aware of the blessings you have - pretty heady stuff for 15 year olds.

My wife - not only is she the love of my life and my best friend, she is the rock that centers my universe.

My health - the decision to have my rny was the best one I've made for my health and I reap the dividends on a daily basis.

Exercise - if you knew me then you'd chuckle about this one.  Recently I had, for me, become a little complacent about it.  I caught myself feeling very "unmedicated" - the word we use to describe how I feel when I am missing the soothing powers that food used to provide for me.  On a particularly bad day, I recommitted myself to exercise and my head has been thankful every day since.

My job - it drives me crazy but given the economic situation of the world and the struggles that I have observed others going through I have to be thankful I have one.

Hope everyone has a great and thankful day.

Edited to add - well once I got over myself for a second - I looked at the pics of your little guy and he's adorable - it's amazing how they can add perspective to our lives.

Hello OH fam, I'm so full of mixed emotion i could burst, but one I'm glad i don't feel is regret! I'm excited about my future and a new healthy way of life. I'm nervous about surgery itself & the pain i may feel. I'm a little sad knowing my best friend wont be there to comfort me(food) but I'm not considering it a breakup but a renewing of our relationship.
I'm starting to pack my hospital bag, I was wondering if ya'll had any must haves i should add to my list. Those who know, please pray may strength & a quick pain free recovery in this journey.

Thanks & God Bless,
Danielle

Topic: Thankful Thursday
I know, I know, I started the WTF Wednesday and did it one week before disappearing. But, I promise to try and be better now. And I thought we could do a Thankful Thursday? I am thankful for my very calm and peaceful little man and his health. I am thankful for our jobs in this still uncertain economy. I am thankful for my health after all the medical drama I've been through in the past 4 years. I am thankful for my husband of 5 years who still puts up with my ekotional rollercoaster.

I leave you with this and ask what are you thankful for this Thursday?

Call your insurance and ask what the specific requirements are to obtain approval for WLS.  Ask about about your out of pocket expenses, is anesthesia (and an anesthesiologist) is covered (surprisingly some insurances do not cover this), ask about deductibles etc.  Get as much information from them as you can up front so you are prepared.  Most insurance companies require a 6 month nutritional program before approval.  Be sure to go to every single appointment with the nutritionist..if you miss one..you will have to start all over again.  Research, study, and prepare yourself.  You most likely will have to have a psych eval and some other testing done...depending on your surgeon's and insurance company's requirements.

It will take time but it is sooo worth it in the end!!  Stick with it...your whole life will change for the better!

Huh...I had no idea we couldn't take Pepto-Bismol. Does that cause bleeding and ulcers like NSAID's?

You know it.  I have a runny nose and I am praying I don't get sick.  My 9 year old was coughing all night and this morning she was complaining her throat and head was hurting. Ughhhh You know that will spread like wilf fire. :(

Take care!
