I am not sure. I know that I used my pre op weight from the day I had my surgery.

Some people use the weight they have lost from the time they started their 3 or 6 months pre-op visits with their surgeon.
Sorry I am not too much help. Maybe someone else can help.

But I wanted to let you know that you are doing wonderful.

Hi Angela,

How are you doing?

You go back to basics for 5 days.   It helps you see that your pouch still works if you eat the right foods.  I must say I feel major restriction in my pouch today.  I kept hoping for today because i would be able to eat soft proteins.  But this morning I was not hungry at all.  I actully ate a tiny bit of breakfast and got full really quick.

This is a very low carb and high protein diet. Just like when you was first post op.
I am giving you the link so you can read up on it.
it tells you want you can have for day through day 5. You also get recipe suggestions for each day.

Good afternoon Linda!

You are so early out and we all have those fears of the surgery not working for us.  But one thing that you need to focus on is that what you have is a tool. You are in control of your tool and you have to work your tool.  I am 3 1/2 years post op and one thing I do know that when I start eating bad for what ever reason (I am an emotional eater) I sometimes think darn I guess this is it for me.  I will be back to my own self before my RNY.  But I give myself a swift kick on my own butt and I go back to basics to reclaim my confidence and to keep myself in check.

Before my RNY I was a Pepsi holic (not diet) I drank 2 to 3 liters a day.  I had to quit drinking soda when I decided to have surgery. I also drank coffee but only 1 small cup a day.  Then I began drinking coffee again like 6 months post op.  But through out the past two years I have noticed that I have been depending more on coffee.

You are going to do wonderful,  make the most of the first 18 to 24 months because it is easy to get rid of the weight but after that it requires lots of work to maintain it.

How much have you lost so far? Are you measuring once of month? It helps to measure so when you don't see the scale moving you see the inches going.

Best of luck on your journey.

All I can tell you is Dr. Lomenzo is the best and he was doing this for years before he came to UMMC. I had rny in August and everything went great. Put your full trust in him and he will do what is best for you and your health.

Hi Cindy.  I had laposcopic RNY done at this facility on 9 Nov 2010.  I can't address the open surgery but I just want to tell you that this is a great facility.  The doctors and nursing staff rocks.  Dr. Kligman was my surgeon.  He trained your surgeon and I have nothing but high praises for Dr. Kligman.  A member of my support group was the very first patient last year of your surgeon and she raves about him.

Good luck with your surgery.

I am just curious........ If I weighed 293 lbs in 2007 when I moved to Maryland and now weigh 193 lbs after having surgery in August of 2009.  Does that mean I qualify for membership in the Century Club for loosing 100 lbs in 4 years?  Just curious.  Any comments???

Hi everyone I was just wondering has their been anyone who had open surgery at this facility, I have surgery on Jan 24,2011, thisis my second time the first time surgery weas stopped because the Doc said my liver was the largest he has ever seen , I have bills left from that surgery and will have bills from this one also, a third time is not and option I would rather have them convert to a open procedure. For the next Two weeks I am going to do 3 shakes a day and that is it.
