Tom I am just seeing this... I am so sorry to hear this news..  I wish I had better advice... I have none...   FWIW I have a protein drink every single day still... some days two...     I'm not a very good eater and they worry that my eating is disordered sometimes....

How do they reconcile the RNY as causing the kidney problems?

I hope you find answers soon.

Hi,
I had my surgery two years ago with Dr. Fullum at Howard University Hospital. Dr. Fullum and his staff are GREAT!! They are very knowledgeable, concerned and gracious.

I have fallen of track not through any fault of theirs, but due to other family members health issues and I am their sole caregiver.

Go to one of their seminars which are held on the 3rd Thursday of every month. They are very informative. Good luck on your journey.

Hi Girl,  It's so good to see your post.  I am sorry you have been having a difficult time.  We all go through the same thing somehow.  Stress can be the major deterant of our lives.  I miss this board when it USED to be supportive.  I hope and pray it can get back to being supportive so many new members need the support just like we recieved it when we needed it.

Just know that I am here for you and looking forward to hold eachother up through this journey on gettingback on the wagon.

((((hugs))))

I'm practically new to the area, came from Atlanta.  What city do you live in Maryland???  Prehaps we can meet up somewhere and talk.  One thing I do miss about the ATL is my awesome friends I have walked thru this journey on.

Topic: RE: Dr. Magnuson or Schweitzer - Johns Hopkins Center for Bariatric Surgery - What was your experience?
I had Dr. Schweitzer. No bedside manner at all but pioneered the lap RNY, so an excellent surgeon. I only saw him at the preop visit and surgery day anyway, so bedside didn't much matter to me. Dr. Steele trained under Schweitzer and is also excellent. She's tough and very serious about following the rules and getting the most out of the process. She did my best friends RNY. Like her a lot!

Good luck!

Well,, of course no-one can 100% sure of anything,, but it all points that way. Another optition I need to talk to Dr A about is going back to basically cutting my eating down,, and relying on protein shakes. The abnormal labs showed up right as I started giving up the protein shakes,, and going for more "normal" foods. I started to focus more on food and less on the shakes when Dr A and my primary started beating me up about it.

Busy busy busy summer with my 3 small kids and 4 grand kids and school work. I barely get time to breathe. I keep saying that I need to come here more often.  But I rarely get the chance to.  I do FB regularly tho.

How are you doing? I hope all is well.

All the best,

Cira
