Hi Everyone, I just wanted to say hi. I met with the social worker today at MMC and have an appointment scheduled with the team and surgeon (Dr. Wolfe) for May 21st. I am a little wary of this process because I went through the whole process in Baton Rouge, LA, only to be denied when a exclusion was written into my co's insurance policy a week before surgery. They just dumped me. I sure would hate for that to happen again. Anyway I am looking forward to the next appointment and hopefully the surgery will workout this time I was wondering if anyone knows the approximate length of wait after your first team meeting? If anyone who has had surgery could give me a timeline that would be great! Thank you in advance for your time and relies.

Hi! I had my gastric bypass surgery at MMC with Dr Cobean. I started looking into gastric bypass in Sept 2005. Because of my husbands work changing insurance companies, I had to wait until January 2006 to send in my paperwork. Had my first "team" appointment in the begining of April 2006. Had my second "team" appointment in late June 2006 and signed my consent forms that day. And had my surgery on August 7, 2006. While I was waiting it did feel like forever, but once they give you the surgery date it seems to fly right by. Good luck, ~dori~

Grace, I have no regrets. This was the best thing I ever did for myself. I have my life back. I feel like I can do anything now. I never thought I would ever feel like this again. I'm very lucky to have been able to have had WLS. ~dori~
