I "finally" got my surgery date for September 20th ! It on one hand seemed to take forever but yet again it seemed to go quick. I am getting it done at EMMC in Bangor by Dr. Clough and am looking for others getting it done around the same time, or at the same place or by the same doc. I know I have all of you to share this wonderful experience with but am trying to find someone with a connection (same doc, place, etc...) to share each phase with. I am also looking for any and ALL help I can get with foods that I can have afterward; this is just blowing my mind in a million pieces trying to figure it out myself. Netti

Congratulations on your Surgery Date, Netti!!  It flew by SO quickly after I had my last appointment with Maine Bariatric/Dr Cobean and I signed my consent papers. You will do fine and you will feel this is  the best thing you have ever done for yourself!!  I would do it all over again!  After surgery, take it slow, follow the doctors orders.  I am still having a hard time with solid meats and it is true what they say about eating slowly and chew chew chew.  But in your first month, just stick to liquid and blended foods (consistency of applesauce) while your pouch is healing. I lived on Cottage Cheese and GNC Whey Protein for the first month. As Dr Cobean says the first month it is imperitive that you stick with liquids so that you don't get a leak. Of course, every doc is different with that, but it was good for me. I had no complications. Take Care!
