Sweating!!!!- Diahrea-
I NEED someone to call me! 448-2429. I can call you once i have your number but i need a "support" person, someone who has been here that i can talk to . I got up to have a hot cocoa for some liquid and after a sip i feel like crap, this happens all the time. When its all done i get maybe a half a cup drank and wait half hour with my shivers and go lay back down. thank god its bedtime!

Netti,
I could not stomache anything BU****er in the beginning., and that sure wasn't half a cup at a time. wow. I could only drink little sips and I do mean sips. Even the hot cocoa premade now is no sugar added which is NOT sugar free. What are you drinking ????
You feel crappy in the beginning and you will wonder how on earth you even thought to do this surgery. That is all NORMAL feelings and it DOES get better.
This next few weeks is all learning. Things you ate or even loved before surgery are not always the things you can eat now. Some you will not even like now. Do not worry about getting ALL your protein in in the start the fluids is the most important thing. Dr. Clough counts 2 sugar free popscilces as 1 fluid and you will not get ALL your fluids in either. Just do the best you can.
You will get through all of it just take one step at a time.
If you have questions Clough's office nurse is very good about answering them too.
Good Luck
Pam

I am up to about 32 ounces a day now and not having that hard of a problem. 20-30 g of protein is around my limit too. Just not hungry.
Yeah no one tells you that you feel crappy at the beginning. And crappy is being an understatement!!!!
I tried the sf popsicles and hate them and I got 2 boxes here. Hope I can return one at least.
Thank you sooo much Carla! Your phone call was such a relief and life saver! It was great to hear that all what I am feeling is normal ( well to be expected).
I did not get any sleep last night though try as I might... I just got more frustrated watching the hours tick by trying to get comfortable. Am hoping for better results tonight.
Only thing I am finding is that if I do eat something a little quicker than I should, I will get diarhea but I will learn all this as I go.
Why is it though you never hear the bad part of this surgery until after and then you are left wondering if you had made the worst choice in your life?
Thanks again for the call....it meant a lot to have someone to talk to. You really helped! Netti
Netti,
I am sorry you were under the impression that surgery was easy from the start. I tell everyone I talk to the first 2 months was really rough, its even on my profile. BUT it does get so much better. Tonight I had a grilled turkey burger, small ear of corn and a sliced of tomato. My surgery year anniversary is tomorrow and believe me in the beginning I never thought I'd be able to eat like I did tonight. But everyone kept telling me that it would get better and I hung on and tried to be patient and it did get better. It honestly sounds like to me you are doing great. I had a hard time getting even 20 oz of fluids in and i could not drink anything bu****er. I could not drink hot chocolate thats for sure so you are doing good. It does matter still for me if I am in a hurry when I eat or upset about something.
Keep up the good work.
Pam

Netti, Are you drinking regular cocoa (with sugar?) I didn't even have the surgery that is supposed to cause dumping and I still can't drink cocoa, or juice or coffee with sugar. I get almost dizzy, sweating, feeling like I'm going to poo myself or die. Then explosive diarrhea...which of course hits when I am nowhere near home.
Be sure your drinks are sugar free. If that doesn't help, maybe skip all cocoa for a while, maybe it is the powdered mile or some other ingredient causing the dumping. I know there are some foods that did it to me before I had any surgery.
Hope you feel better!
