Hi  all I decided my gas from drinking is because of taking too small  sips and getting  air in the pouch. I have made my sips a little bigger and  it has helped. I cant blame   pain medicine as i have not had any since   sunday nite. I do love the carnation  instant breakfast instead of the unjury  so  i will stick with that. until they  advance my diet next tuesday. Hubby brought home some sugar free popscicles  and  they are so good.   Those are my snack in the evening . Got in all my fluids yesterday  and  i was so glad.  I really dont want to be dehydrated. Every day i am so much better.  I am ready to go back to work  but i have to do this excursion today to see if i can tolerate it.  I cant wait i hate to be housebound. That is why i drive school bus   )))on the road again))) lol Have a great   day  and thanks for all your  help. Some one asked how iwas getting  4 ounces down.  Well it took me a half hour to do my egg drop soup but i savoried every bit of it.  But right after surgery i had a upper gi  and next morning and i had to get   almost 3 ounces down for that if not more.   It didnt hurt my pouch then but made a little pressure on it. thanks for all your help and concerns   YOU ALL  are GREAT!!!!!! Are you really able to go back to driving a school bus a WEEK after MAJOR surgery??? Cut yourself some slack woman! Heal up! You're not even to the point where you're likely to get some fairly intense left side pain. Mine hit at 2 weeks and lasted until 6 weeks and it felt like I was being stabbed in my side over and OVER again all day long, and especially when  I moved! You don't want that happening while you have 50 plus children in your care! Give yourself a little bit before you decide to go back to work! Your body has been through a lot ... cut yourself some slack! I'm glad that the gas has gone away! I can't believe that you got down 3 ounces in the hospital. They had me take a tiny sip and that was it. Then I was allowed to drink one ounce of water every 15 minutes for the next few hours. That was it! I wasn't allowed to even have water (not even to brush my teeth -  - until day 3!) It's amazing how different surgeons are! You can have soup - where I had to wait until week 3 for that - and you can get 4 ounces down in 30 minutes. I was on that one ounce every 15 minutes for the first 2 weeks! It really is interesting how different docs are!

I bet you're one of the lucky ones that didn't need to do a weekend of liquid diet or the horrible "bowel prep" the day before, right? LOL

Glad to hear you are doing so well! I would also say maybe wait a little longer to drive again, I know I was not cleared to drive until 2 weeks out and even then I was usually just too tired or still not feeling well enough to do it. However, I know everyone is different but I would just check with your surgeon first and make sure they okay it. My surgeon said no driving for 2 weeks and so if I had drove and something happened it would not have been good since I was told not to drive. As far as Unjury and Carnation, if you have the unflavored unjury I say add one scoop to your carnation, that is what I do. I don't think I have ever tried just drinking the unjury, I always add it to things. Anyways good luck and keep up the good work!

Hi  Dreamin Lyn told me not to add it to the   carnatation as it was too much protein  right now.  Maybe next week  I  could do that. I just heard back from Lyn  and she says  8 ounces of liquid meal should take me  one half hour and it does.   and to stop before i feel full and i stopped today at  7 ounces  that was enuf. I am sure everything will change next week after i get to have solids,. funny how  doctors are different.   Ours let us drive  as soon as no narcotics.  and i waited  three more days or a week after surgery. not sure about going back to work on friday tho probably will wait till monday  when doctor said i could.  Not  pushing   i am lucky so far.  Had a dannon smoothie for a snack today  while i was out shopping.  it was marvelous. Hope all is doing good with you Patty
