thanks for support - appeal to MaineCare denial successful!!
So, you are going to have the RNY? I am nearly 3 weeks post-op. I had a PCA pump while in the hospital for pain control (used it 4-5 times, maybe!) I was sent home with a prescription for liquid pain meds (took it the first night I was home, and then put them away) Haven't had anything for pain since. I started walking in the hospital (got to my room around 430pm and was up and walking around 6pm). I feel the pain wasn't bad at all. I did have alot of gas pain, but once I was up and walking, that was much better. Hope this helps! Ruth
Kaileigh, you really should read up on both surgeries and understand the difference between the 2, there are alos other choices, but not yet done by Dr. Loggins. Have you read up on RNY?? and the Lap band? they are similar, but yet different. I certainly wouldn't talk you into either one specifically, but just for your knowledge it is good to know what you will go through and what everyone is talking about. check aorund on these different forums above and you will get tons of information.
Thanks so much, yes I am aware of several methods and the one Dr. Loggins has the most experience with.
I feel comfortable with my choice - because I have done so much research and asked alot of questions if you have info let me know.
Love and light,
Kaileigh A. Tara

Kaileigh,
Living in Lewiston, I remember you and your time as Mayor )
quite well. I even remember meeting up with you at a meeting with Corinne a number of months ago.
First of all let me say CONGRATULATIONS on getting your approval from MaineCare. Things will move swiftly from here. Yes, Dr. Loggins is getting busier but that's what comes with have so many satisfied "customers"
I too have MaineCare and really had no problems with them. I also had 3 co-mobities which helped prod things along. I am now 9 months out from surgery and 112 pounds totally GONE. I started my journey with a visit to his office in February of last year. By early June the office called to say that all was "a go" and I could have the surgery as early as July 2ed. (Being in a production with Community Little Theater I asked for a slightly later date as the show was due to be performed on July 25-29) I was, therefore scheduled for July 30th !
My experience was non-eventful. Everyone has a different tolerance for pain. I, personally, was off ALL pain meds less then 12 hours out of surgery! I've had my share of frustrations and stalls and plateaus since that fateful day 9 months ago but I'm ever so glad I had it done. My energy level has sky rocketed and my co-mobities have all but vanished. (Let's just say I'm no longer considered a diabetic!
)
Please feel free to pm me and we can certainly keep in touch. Everyone here on the Maine Forum is really supportive and helpful. If you have a comment, question or concern, feel free to voice it. We're all here to help as much as we possibly can.

Thankyou so much. it is good to find someone with exp with Dr. L's office. I had a very different experience. I went to one meeting, got list of preop stuff to do, got it all done in less than 6 weeks, and was 'ready" -That was last July. He has made me wait, and wait, and wait, until they submitted for pre-approv on March 12---I really think he does not like me and just wanted me to know he was in charge and I had no say in the matter.
I hear some good things about him, but to me he has been cold, refusing to have a discussion regarding my care and plan, absolutely refusing to even hear me out. - just planned on making me wait until he felt like it.
That has been the worst part of all of this, This man will operate on me, I need that, but i will say, as soon as i do not have to have contact with him, I will be relieved. I love everybody else in the office. Just I rub him the wrong way I guess.
Thanks for your support and Congrats on your success. Did you lose more in the first couple months? and then it levels out or is it a little at a time?
Love and light,
Kaileigh A. Tara

SOunds like you know what you want. You might be right, your a strong smart woman, you might scare him. I havn't seen that side of him, but then again i'm a wimp. You must be used to men like that after working where you've worked. some guys have issues with power in woman, i'm sure you know that. You will do just fine, sounds like he has moved on to the next step on your journey being approved so I would say just a matter of a few weeks now, hang in there girl... Cheryl
