OT- DD's good news

I'm not sure I shared this here. DD's newspaper was purchased by another paper. They are in the re-organization phase. There are 26 jobs to be cut. They all have to re-apply and interview for their jobs with the new owners.  Thank G-d, she interview for a reporters position and was offered a job!. She was so nervous wondering what was going to happen if she was canned. It is bittersweet. Many of her co-workers are job-less now.  We're happy, they can continue on their normal course. It was touch and go, and worrisome, especially with a 12 month old.

Good for her, times are rough enough times without Employers re-organizing.  my DS was Assistant General Manager at a Best Western Hotel in Haverhill MA for a year, they let him go "Down sizing" and hired 2 other lower pay people to replace him, haha, they called him about a year later to re-offer him his job back, he said he wasn't interested in speaking with them.  He was offerered a manager's position at Holiday Inn in Portland the next day.That is why he is back living at home.  HIs girlfriend is still in MA.  it makes it hard for them and the price of gas, plus he travels to portland to work now.  He is saving money to buy a condo or home w/ girlfriend when he does get a job in BOston area again.  she is living with mom and dad also. Besides college loans.  Who's idea was it to send them to college anyway.  I would never have my kids go to college if I was to start over.... it is crazy.  Best of luck to your dgt.  have a good weekend.
