I gained a pound!

I woke up today a pound heavier than yesterday. Since I no longer have a cycle, I know it is not that. I am eating everything I am allowed, in the amounts suggested with the exception (there's always an exception, isn't there??) of a soup I had yesterday. I didn't notice until after I ate it that it is NOT a Healthy Request soup and the sodium is almost twice as mu*****ampbell's Healthy Request Creme of Mushroom the sodium is 470 mg per serving and in the Campbell's Creme of Mushroom and Garlic (delicious!) the sodium is 710 mg. All the other nutrients are about the same. But here's the thing. I can eat the whole can (and did!) mixed with 10.5 oz of skim milk! Is that too much too be eating in one sitting in general? I know soup is a slider food, but should I really be able to eat a whole can just 11 days out. Clearly not the one with the higher sodium (1725 mg!), but even the Healthy Request version? Could anyone else eat this much this early until they felt full? I am able to drink a whole can of Low-Carb Slimfast as well. I don't want to obsess over this. If I was weighing once a week, I wouldn't even realize this gain happened and I have lost 8 pounds since surgery, but in a way I am glad I did. The sodium effect (if that is what it is) is an eyeopener from someone who used to liberally salt everything and has not since surgery. My total calorie count for yesterday according to The Daily Plate (which I love!) was 723 calories and I got 57 grams of protein in which is great! I think I will watch it with the sodium better. I sure hope that is all it was. Thanks for listening. Yourexperiences and thoughts would be appreciated!

Hi Terri I am sure the soduim is what added that pound. You need to be careful right now cause with still healing you are not going to have that full feeling yet. You should be between 400 and 600 calories right now according to Dr Loggins and should be limiting your intake to max of 2 oz in 15 minutes so I am thinking you are getting in a little to much at one time. Actually for weeks 1 and 2 our book says 1 ounce over 15 mins. Hope that helps.

I did find I could drink a little more quickly with warm liquids. Just be careful not to overdo cause honestly your insides are still numb and not feeling properly yet. Your new pouch is just 1 ounce in size. Think about that when you are drinking k Hugs

I agree with Lisa....step away from the scale!  (I need to tell myself this too!)  It probably was just the added sodium..it's amazing how our bodies respond!  Like you said...just keep an eye on those labels.  Your new little pouch is still healing and you probably won't get that "full" feeling for a bit AND soup/fluids do tend to just slide on through there. I'd definitely follow your nut and doc's recs on how much to consume at a time......they ALL have different guidelines.  Congrats on your weight loss so far!  That's awesome!   Ruth

I bet you anything it was the sodium!!  Drink some extra water to aid in flushing but RELAX!!  I won't suggest stepping away from the scale because I personally am obsessed with it (2X a day) and nothing is going to change that short of tossing it out the window but I'd probably just go get it anyways.
It's frustrating to see a gain but know that they will come and they will go...as will the dreaded stall.  At just about 17 months out I have been at a stand-still within 4 pounds now for about 7 weeks.  It's a double edged sword at I want to maintain but I miss the thrill of watching the numbers on the scale go down.  But, I'm healthy.
Do also keep in mind that the further out you get the more calories you will need to add to continue losing.  A fueled body burns calories.
Always here to listen!!!
