Hey Ya'll,  just checkin in.  I wasn't going to do anything yesterday and take a day off, but I did 20 mins on my gazelle (not as hard as walking DVD) and did 100 crunches and arm work.  today 30 min. Walk/run DVD and probably some shoveling and sanding, since it looks like an inside day.  How you all doing.  I will meet my 250 mins by tomorrow and my week starts on Friday.  I'm on my way to my goal.  Dr. L did ask me to work up a sweat when I exercise.
My question to you is, how many of you work up a sweat when you work out?  I will sweat during my DVD walking DVD, but I split up the 30 mins in 1/2, due to pain, so I would def. sweat more if I did the 30 mins in one session.  my next question is.  with my arthritis, I need to break it up because of pain, (sounds repetative) how can I work up a sweat in 15 mins.  (TUrn up the heat)?? I have really upped my workouts and feel like 250 mins a week is great, (for me)  am I fooling myself?  for all you exercise guru's tell me if you think 1000 mins in a month is too easy?

I had to pick up Kendall from school yesterday so didn't make it to the y. I did clean his closet and room and dining room. the dining room the the junk room if you know what i mean. i worked over 2 hours on that stuff. didn't work up a sweat but did keep moving.

at the y i definately work up a sweat. i get my heart rate way up too. i know i'm on target when i don't feel like talking to anyone. you can get your heart rate up in 15 minutes. just work your body harder. move quicker. turning up the heat will work too. just remember you're losing fluids so you will have to replenish after your work out.

1000 minutes a month sounds reasonable to me. I think that's a lot. i'm not going to count the housework stuff so i'm still at 160 mins so far this month.

you're doing great cheryl. you don't have to sweat. just get your heart rate up.

To me, it sounds like a LOT! I think you should keep up the great work and do what your body tells you to do! You can only push so far when y ou have pain like you do!!

I am still at a 56 BMI, is it doesn't take much to get my heart rate up and work up a sweat. I do 20-30 minutes playing on the Wii and I get sweaty.  So I'm not much help with advice, sorry.  I do think that you could bump it up some, but then I wonder if that will just bother your arthritis sooner??? Good Luck, I'm up to about 180 minutes total.  Got to catch up!

Funny you should ask that. I have not actually worked up a sweat exercising in a long time. Usually I am just finally warm by the time my workout is over. I need to get up and get moving now cause I am freezing. I have a exercuse suit made of raincoat type material maybe I need to wear that while I do my exercising I bet that will make me sweat. I will let you know how it works for me and maybe that would be something you could look for.

I really think, with your arthritis, that you need to listen to your body and do what it will let you do!  Split it up into sessions......it ALL counts!

I, like Kathy, usually don't work up too much of a sweat (even at the gym...believe it or not)  Maybe I'm not working hard enough?  BUT, my heartrate gets up there, so I think I'm working hard enough?!?!  WHO knows??   I've yet to work up any kind of sweat with the Wii fit or the walking videos....but I KNOW I'm working!  I figure anything that makes you move has to be good for you and burning some calories!

I think 1000 minutes is a GREAT goal!  Next month, if 1000 was easy to reach....up it again!  That's how you build up, right???

Have fun in the snow!!!!!!!
I'm FREEZING!!!!!!!!!!!
