Citrate vs. Carbonate (discussion w/nut. today)
So I had my 2-3 week checkup today with Dana at EMMC. I have lost 10.4 % of excess weight since surgery. She was very happy with that as I am. During our meeting I asked her about the calcium issue and this is what she said. Citrate is probably better absorbed, but most of her patients are on carbonate due to the fact that citrate is a larger molecule and you need to take more pills to get it all in. She wants patients to be compliant and feel that they will be more compliant taking less pills. The main goal is to get the calcium in. I showed her the printout of the vit. I got from Bariatric advantage (online) and she feels that they do not offer as much nutritional value as just a woman's multi. I guess I won't waste any more money on them. It just goes to show you what advertisements do.

I'm feeling great. I asked Dr. T if she actually did anything to me. She wondered too. We joked that she just gave me a few stitches and called it a day. She is really happy with my progress and has released me to do anything that doesn't hurt.
I am planning on coming to the meeting, just checking with the ex. to see if he can keep the boys for a couple extra hours on Saturday. If not I will try to get someone else because I really want to come. See you Saturday.
