I can do a pot luck!

We were invited to a DS's girlfriend's family''s gathering and pot luck. I was a bit worried. What will I be able to eat? Will I be able to eat? We brought a salad- that's safe.

It was wonderful, chicken, salads, Puerto Rican pink beans, a Peruvian beet, onion + chicken salad, flan.   OK enough food porn, sorry.

I took small spoon fulls of several items, enjoyed the company and had a satisfying meal. I even asked DS for a small teaspoon of the flan- it was yummy- tasted like more, but we all know what too much sugar does.

I noticed the lady sitting across from me took about the same portions. I didn't feel alone with my portions. She's slim and watching her weight (no surgery). Hmmmmm- this is how normal people do it.

I was well fed, but not stuffed. WOW- this is great! I can be in social situations, choose small portions  and not seem like I stick out in the crowd.

Hi Emily

Yes  isn't it  wonderful to feel normal.   And realize that our portions are now  normal  and that  the ones that eat too much are either lucky   overweight  or  exercise gurus    or  only do that once in a while.  Me it was every time i sat down  and then there were days i could eat all day.

You are doing great!!!  We all are!!!   and we are so proud of you and sam!!!!

I wish I had that self-control now... I ate so much last night it made me ill!!  I have been so good lately, but that last supper mentality kicked in.  Wow, you can bet I learned my lesson!

Nice to know you can eat socially and not feel out of place. Helps that it was homemade too.
