Thought I was near death - anyone else experience this?
Wow...a few hours ago I thought for sure it was my end. I started my period today which is normally kind of painful. Didnt feel like eating anything, had a few sips of a protein shake.
Got to work...had some cramps, nothing unusual. All of a sudden I started getting really hot. I felt like I was 200 degrees. I asked my client to leave and when I stood up everything turned black. I almost fell down....started to lay down on floor and decided maybe my blood sugar was taking a drop so I grabbed a packet of sugar and ate it (coffee supplies are on my desk). Stripped my shirt off and laid on my couch....
In horrrrrrrrrrible pain, almost flu like but worse....still hot....went and got in the bathtub with cold water (I work at a rehab so we have couchs/baths/etc). Was horrible in the bath, going back and forth between tub and toilet. Wondering if maybe I sprung a leak because I remember a girl posting about having a leak at 7 months (Im 5).
Took an aspirin...puked it up instantly. My first time puking since surgery. Laid down in more pain, hot, cold, hot, cold. Finally fell asleep...woke up an hour later and felt a little better. Still shakey with a small headache.
Has anyone had anything like this before? I was sooooo close to having someone call 911. The ONLY thing that stopped me was knowing I dont have insurance. And dont beat me up over that - I will go tonight if I feel anything weird again. But GOD....has anyone experienced this since surgery?

I usually don't get drawn into political discussions on this site because it's not the place, but when comments like that are made it drives me nuts. I'm not rich but I do work for everything I have and expect the same from other able body Americans. You want cheaper health insurance rates? Name 1 program that the govt has been involved in where that has happened (Just 1).
Besides, if universal health care is so great in Canada...why did Suziq1964 go to Mexico for her procedure? Why not get on the list and wait a few years (if you are lucky). Please don't try to compare your fiasco of a health system to ours. If so, I'll be forced to talk about the number of Canadians that cross the border to get treatment in the U.S. I'm sure its not that bad in all Provinces, but the ones that have any kind of population seem to be the worst off. And the final question is where will the Canadians go if we have Universal Health Care in the U.S.?
My guess is if you really wanted health insurance you could get it without govt intervention, but it's a fact that the reason most people between 20 and 30 yrs old don't have insurance is because they don't think they need it, not that they can't afford it. I truly hope that you are ok and don't require urgent care, but in the future please don't use this forum to start political remarks or suffer the wrath of facts, lol. I know first hand of the bureaucracies of the federal govt. I work for them and could think of nothing worse than govt run healthcare.
I'm sure I'll be tarred and feathered and banished from OH, but I had to put in my 2 cents. No apologies but I do hope you are ok.

Uhm...........this wasnt a political discussion. Last time I checked, I had freedom of speech on this nifty little thing we call the internet. If I wanna make a one liner joke, it doesnt need to be followed by some political rant. I never said if I was a supporter or not. You dont know. Hell, I dont know.
I think its brilliant that the Canadian government is willing to admit they cant handle the back log and pays for people to go elsewhere.
Im 28 as of yesterday. And not to stand on a soap box but I put myself through college in NYC and have my masters degree. I have 2 jobs. I own 6 houses. And guess what? I dont have medical insurance. And guess what? Im not so cheap that I "think I dont need it" as you seem to think us stupid, uneducated 20 to 30 year olds are. I used to have a private pay policy that ****** me royally. Told me they would pay for stuff and didnt. Then I didnt find out until credit bureaus started calling me. They ****** my credit that I have paid every single solitary bill on time for the last 10 years. Luckily I am in a position where I was able to pay it off. Many people are not. Many people dont go to the doctor because they know they cannot pay. Not everyone who doesnt have insurance is a drain on the system. I travel a lot and when I talk to people from other countries that DO have insurance...they just cant comprehend how our supposedly great nation is so behind on this. One Australian told me "There are three things that need to be handled by the government - education, public safety (policing), and medical care." He shined a new light on it for me in a way I hadnt seen it before.
Another thing? I went to Mexico because their prices are more realistic. You tell me why a doctor should be charging $25,000 for a 45 minute procedure? Tell me. Because I paid $2,000 to have 3 small tubes of blood drawn and tested. Thats rape. That is down right price gouging and something should be done about it. I have paid $3,000 for an ER visit where ALL they did was have me sit for 5 hours and give me an IV. $3000? My friends mom got cancer and the family took turns spending over $1,000 each time she got chemo...but they left the country because it was cheaper somewhere else. Get a grip and take a look at what happens to normal, everyday people. Not just the people who are trying to live off the government.
Dont bother responding because I have no interest in continuing the topic.

Don't bother responding??? You don't have to read it. But you were the one that directed your freedom of speech towards stupid republicans. Never said anything about 20 somethings being stupid, just said they don't think they need health insurance. You don't want to get screwed by the high cost of medical procedures in the U.S? Try tort reform to begin with, but that's not even considered with the Democrat plan, lawyers have a stronghold on keeping that out of any legislation. And you are probably right about not everyone that is without healthcare is a drain, but they are when they have a catastrophic accident and can't pay the 6 figure bill (that is comprised mostly of the high cost of malpractice insurance to pay those lawyers). Don't even start on the part of other countries having universal health care wondering why we don't have it. If the govt would be so great at running health care, why not let them run everything to make it cheaper and more accessible, like Disney World. Everyone deserves to go to Disney World and you shouldn't have to pay for it themselves. It's just not fair that who can't afford or just don't want to pay for it out of their own pockets be able to go. Life isn't fair and it shouldn't be up to the govt to make it fair. It's not their job and when they do get involved it doesn't get better (still haven't seen that 1 example). Don't worry I'm done. I won't even bother reading after posting this one. I think I've done enough ******g off for tonight.
And again, I hope you are ok. I had a kidney stone when I was living in Yemen and had some similar pains to which you were describing.

Canada isn't the only country with universal healthcare, it works just fine here. I never get how people can oppose it, I will add to that it is probably a difference in culture.
I've always felt that universal healthcare= obligating everybody to get insurance. The goverment collects the money from everybody, and redistributes as is needed, just like insurance companies do, except that the goverment isn't out to make huge profit for themselves. (I don't think insurance is as expensive anywhere in the world as it is in the US, for a family of four we have an extra insurance that covers everything , single rooms in hospital, dental etc, and its 2500 a year)
There will be people who benefit from this who you think don't deserve it, but there are many more who need this and are deserving. There will always be people who have disadvantages, there will always be people who want to work but can't get a job and there will always be people who can't afford insurance, even when it is a priority. Nobody should die because they can't afford to see a doctor, not in a first world country. There is no excuse.
